Spoken by someone who has never traveled the the USA or UK before. I will speak about the USA because that's where I live and a citizen of. I had the same mentality as you many years ago, until I relocated to the USA. The same skills you are boasting of 1k USD in naija will pay you 100k in the USA. I graduated with a 2nd class upper in Computer science in Nigeria and was working for Mobil think I was making good money back then. My salary at the time was 750k in 2012. When I moved to the USA, I upgraded and added more certifications. This is not to boasting, but to encourage someone out there. Today, I make about 400k USD. I make around 250k USD as a senior manager with one of the big 5 and make around 150k USD a year as a consultant for my side hustle. In America, the possibilities are endless. Don't let anyone deceive you. If you work hard here, you will enjoy life. I can travel anywhere in the world and almost don't have to worry about visas. Just buy a ticket and fly. I still have my naija passport, but only use it when I am visiting naija.
