jazzman7711:Oga chill the fúck out and take it easy on your keyboard or phone screen. It's not by typing in large bold fonts. You're busy shouting fuel subsidy up and down, as if years and years of constant mismanagement of the economy didn't play a big factor too. |

jUeLiZ:I remember the good old days when tp was less than N100 for the same distance, and fuel cost less than N5 Oga, you guys should stop bringing up this picutre. I agree with you people, APC Has messed up since they took over, but maintaining that fuel at N87 was becoming difficult by 2013, so much so that fuel stations were selling at N130 and above in many parts of the country. Our problem is that the major source of our income is raw materials...like cocoa, groundnut, cotton, tin, and more recently oyel. The palaver is we do not set the price. Meanwhile, we are a poor country, and everyone wants subsidsied stuff.....so at the end, we pay for subsidies on oil money that was never effing enough, and we had a severe debt. Yes, APC is part of the problem. Yes, Tinubu and Buhari were wrong to tell Nigerians to resisit GEJ's removing fuel subsidy in 2012. And with the benefit of effing hindsight, if we had removed subsides in 1992/3 when we were advised to, we would have been in a better place. If our economy had been based on manufacturing.,..and exporting manufactured stuff....we would have had N1 to one dollar by now. Oga, our problem starts from the fact that 80% of our income comes from oil. We need oil at 140 or more per barrel to enjoy good life. Anything else just means taking loans, and our debt was growing back in 2012, and kept growing until it was eating over 90% OF OUR REVENUE By August 2022. Long before tinubu said subsidy was gone. And tinubu made it worse by paying more in subsidy until Dangote fully came on line, at which point he had no choice. Better stop looking at the good old days. There are people in this country who remember the days when a bottle of GUlder cost 75 kobo, and when a loaf of bread cost 50 kobo and fuel cost 15 KOBO. And it wasn't as if people were enjoying back then. They were not. And the basis of those good old days is the debt that continues to grow because we don't want to change our economic basis. And what pisses me off is that some jokes will call me agbado. Tinubu wey I never vote for, na him I go support? Tinubu that even wants to increase our dependency on oil , and wants to increase oil production that would end up even crashing oil prices and our income...na him I go support.?Right. Nigerians hear only what they want to hear. Think,. NIgerians think. Not everything is PDP, APC, Igbo , YOurba, fulani, christian and muslim. Most subsaharan african countries have the same issue. We don't make our stuff, and we rely on revenue from things whose prices we do not control. When you are not controlling what you make, the country that makes the stuff you import would control you. We want china to give us free RMB. The same china whose GDP was behind SIerra Leone in the early 1970's? Wedon;t want to follow chinese example. Na oil money we wan chop. |

OP you know what?….those of us born in the 60s also complained about how we missed when petrol sold below N1/litre, when we started buying at N87/litre. |

jazzman7711:Fuel subsidy is a good thing. Almost every developed economy subsidises energy. The problem with Nigeria is in the corruption in the subsidy system. I worked for 8 solid years in the petroleum industry and I can tell you the corruption there is sickening. A good government will not stop subsidising energy. A good government with a clear conscience and the will to pull people out of poverty will rather fight the corruption in the subsidy system. |

jUeLiZ:Thanks for this information. Between 2016 to 2018 I was involved in a pipeline project between Calabar and Creek Town. So, my residence was in Calabar, and I frequently made trips between Uyo and Calabar. The road was still good at that time, and I must say one of the safest roads in Nigeria. You can pass the road at any time without any issues. |

nairalanda1:And what has your own party done about it since independence? Meanwhile, our country has not been exporting JUST raw materials since independence, and there was better economic growth in PDP’s deregulated and privatisation economy than in APC’s clueless pseudo progressive socialist government control of businesses. |

jazzman7711:Tinubu who removed the subsidy has borrowed more money than Buhari did in his first two years in office. It's not about removing subsidy or floating the Naira Where are the gains ?Is he investing in healthcare, Agriculture, youths etc No, it's more money to state Governors more money for thieving politicians like Tinubu to loot while you suffer and bear the pain of removal of subsidy You are a yoruba Muslim you lots killed this country since 2015 A region that prides itself as educated..
