Or some muslim leader issues a fatwa saying muslim kids under 20 can drink water in hot countries during the daytime hour....which would have made things manageable, but fasting means no water as well for a muslim.

And the heat this year is atrocious (Sometimes I no dey take these global warming people serious, but this is one of those times when you start thinking they have a point).

KInd of exposes the fact that our schools are largely not well equipped. If I was building a primary school in say Sokoto state, I would at least plant a lot of trees so that the school is always in shade. If the person hiring me to build the school had the money...I would add solar powered fans for the class. Maybe it might have mittigated things better.

Still , school is back. (And I don't think it would affect them much...I recall when the teachers at the secondary school I went to went on strike when I was in SS2. Lost 6 weeks, still somehow finished the syllabus for that year.).

What would it have taken the idiats to explain their reasons. We are not worried about their religion. What we are worried about is that their decisions keeping children from school portend serious problems for us down south cos once they come off age, they end up as bandits in forests or kidnappers and blood sucking herders terrorising farmers down here. Empower them with good education, they will contribute positively to the economy of the north and Africa in general.
