What is stopping governors of other states from building ports? They make billions monthly, most things Lagos is doing is public private partnership. |

What stops your State Governors from building seaports if your States have commercial value?.. don't we see States building airports in same Nigeria?. Lagos is naturally ahead because of her positioning close to interntional water bodies, you can't ask Govt. to be building seaports in landlocked regions who have no direct access to sea. Calabar port is there, Onne port is there.. why are the naysayers not using them and abandon Lagos seaports?.. hateful beings that bad belle will destroy. |

dederocs:It is either this topic is way above your pay grade or you are just desperately trying to muddle facts for petty reasons.. Otherwise, you can't be saying all that to defend a vindictive federal government.. The fact is that the building of Ports and their subsequent management have always been on the exclusive lists. If that has been removed from the exclusive list recently, you still have to get permissions from the federal government to do such projects. The federal government will conduct all the studies and certify such ports before they become operational. And it is the same federal government that will staff the whole place with customs officers and other auxiliary staffs.. Policies as it regards port charges.., or as it regards where certain ships can duck or where certain goods can be imported from, are all made by the federal government. So even if the Cross Rivers state government decides today to build a port, the federal government can decide that say, all clothing/medical imports must come from lagos ports. There is nothing Calabar can do about that. These are the issues bedevelling eastern ports and these issue started after the war. Let these petty attempts to make it look like this is a problem of the eastern governors stop. It is not. The federal government intentionally made eastern ports redundant. That's inspite of the fact that eastern businesses are responsible for more than half on. mports into Nigeria |

MadPolitician:How many states have the intentions or proposed to build ports that have been stopped by the federal government? Speak with facts not assumptions, you assumed all you wrote there, because there has not been an incident where the federal government stopped any state or allocate special status to any state in terms of port construction/location. The issue of ports, as well as energy creation has been removed from the exclusive list since Tinubu came into power. The governors receive billions monthly from FG and make internal revenue, this type of money can build ports or invite private partnership, just as Lagos is doing. Don't be an educated idiot, give empirical evidence, not what you are thinking from your small myopic biased mind, or shut up. |

Too many lazy narcissists are pathological liars and do not have capacity to take responsibility for their own laziness. There are sea ports built very close to the South East in Port Harcourt and Calabar with conducive water templates for a seaport what is stopping the South East from using them. It is not everyone who is senseless to build infrastructure in unsuitable, dangerous and non commercially viable terrain like some of your states building airports that lie fallow. The tendency to stir up the polity senselessly and needlessly must be exhausting. SpiritMoney: |

CyrusVI:You are talking to an importer. It costs more to bring in goods from Eastern ports. It has always cost more since ships dock first in Lagos. Go and ask the federal government why? If you want, I will give you the phone numbers of Chinese shippers so they quote Tin can and Onne for you. You are very illiterate on the topic, Rest ahbegi |

flokii:So Lagos ports were built by Lagos state government? Why are duties higher in eastern ports like Calabar, Onne and Warri if not to discourage people from SE and SS from using them? One country indeed. One day, these people will see through your Yoruba and their Fulani masters treachery. |
