If Nigeria is truly one, we need to totally erode tribalism and nepotism.
There is no where in the world you adopt another state so easily like that.

Well as bonafide Nigerians, it is their right under the constitution of The Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 As Amended to work & live anywhere within The Federation without discrimination or prejudice.

Don’t blame others for your ignorance of the laws of your own country, that is why as a tribe of people, they are way more prosperous than u claiming your brothers work & property.

No personal property, nothing be your own, everything wey u get na our own, Lagos State na we get am, community holding.

U done buy even half Plot of land, anywhere within The Federal Republic of Nigeria?

If u had u wouldn’t be sounding this naive & shallow minded.

How do you support One Nigeria, and not support all of the citizens making a home anywhere they like?
Oh, you only want to enjoy the loots of the civil war derived from the East, but you don't really give a damn about citizenship?

Don’t mind those oblivious ignorant things, & na them go they shout pass we want true federalism, incoherent mumus.

Actually the constitution of 1999 as amended, already permits us to work & live anywhere within The Federal Republic of Nigeria without discrimination or prejudice.

Even in Lagos state, Eko Oni Baje, born in Moloney, Ikoyi, raised in Victoria Island, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, presently residing in VGC, Eti-Osa.

Let us just say, I have the best of both worlds.
Stay in your barren region.

What of Ekiti, Kogi & Ondo State, no plans of indigenization?

U from Osogbo is it because u speak Yoruba u think that u are a Lagosian?

Are u and Agululiar Aworis? because to u myopic minded Tribalists, Lagos states belongs to all Yorubas just like Oyo & Osun state abi?
Re: Yoruba Group Rejects Bill Granting Indigene Rights Through Residency, Marriage by sharone21(f): 2:29am On Mar 31, 2025
This bill should be concentrated more for foreigners since getting citizenship isn't straightforward by marriage. They do a lot of yrs of residency permit.

Though foreigners too matters and checking their behavior is critical eg foreigners from 'Sahel Africa'.

Aliko Dangote said he relocated to Lagos State in 1978 from Kano State, & ever since Lagos State has been his home.

I believe that simple peasant minded Tribalist agululiar & Loganx have the prerogative to tell Dangote to pack & leave Lagos State immediately back to his barren state, that he is not an indigene?

Rupertek:
But then, equity must go hand un hand. Indigeneship must be included in the census data sheet. Because if lagos population is made up of only 20% indigenes, federal government should then be using the 20% in sharing formular of distributable revenue and quota system, not using the non indigenes to get higher quota and shares. That makes the non indigenes to be indigeneless or stateless, because they are not counted in their home states either.
This is the injustice that have to be corrected.
does this even make any sense?

This is the first time I'm hearing a bill to make you become an indigene of a land where you were not born or not your ancestral land and whoever sponsored this bill should be hanged.
However, nobody on earth can become and indigene of another land alien to your ancestors. An indigenous person has automatic rights to the everything on their land but you can be a citizen of place with some rights which can be withdrawn if you go against the rules and regulations of that land. One thing I know is the bill cannot work or stand in Yoruba land because it is obvious the target is Lagos and other Yoruba lands. Where do other tribes want to live and die? We all know answer to the question. Nonsense!

Psychologically and by training, from your statement and language I know your tribe. You are trying Identity Theft.

The SUYA SELLERS on Okigwe Road and at Works Layout / FUTO Junction , OWERRI and those Hausas at AMA-HAUSA, Off Douglas Road, OWERRI have been there for decades, they know they are strangers. No legislation can make them Owerri Indigene because they can never enjoy Indigene benefits. It is characters of the Indigenes that make strangers to accept a place of abode as home and not legislation. The YORUBA AGBO (Herbal Medicine) Sellers at Nnewi, Onitsha and Asaba know they are strangers. There is no any legislation that can give them indigene status.

In KANO, despite large IBO population, no IBO except those that converted to Islam over 3 decades and have changed names, dressing, speak only Hausa in public and well known among Muslims can claim Kano indigene despite several decades in Kano. The same is applicable to SULEJA that is very close to Abuja. All the Hausas at Onitsha know they are strangers and behave themselves very calmly despite several decades in Onitsha. No legislation can change them. It is in the mind.

IBOS want ABUJA since GWARI people have been settled out and no Kingdom and Emirate. They also needed the Satellite Towns in Nassarawa State because of their large Population. They want to use their population to take over Abuja and Nassarawa State Government. The North is very volatile, One crisis will make the IBOS to retreat.

No YORUBA can ever be given indigene status in Rivers State and Bayelsa State despite several years of living in those States. The same is also applicable to YORUBAS in Warri. No oil producing communities in those places will give YORUBAS indigene status. You can only enjoy many benefits if you marry their daughters. I am yet to see any Yoruba that will want to indigenize his identity in South East except women that marry IBOS.

There's nothing wrong with your second example becoming a reality, the reason is that Niger Delta is not a tribe but a region , a lot of tribes are in the Niger Delta region and none can claim that the region specifically belongs to them. So a Yoruba man from Kwara who has lived in that region for a decade or more can and should be identified as a niger deltan.
We said we don't want..... Is it by force

Why does an igbo man want to. Be identified as a Yorùba? Is igbo so bad that he wants to dump his identity?

Don't come and use ur culture to tarnish our image.... Igbo will be igbo... Yorùbá will be Yoruba..

Now that I am aware that we have baby gorillas in Nigeria, this bill should be used to clean the yansh of baby gorillas, otherwise,we are ready. If this bill should pass, we are very ready for it 100%.
If I resided in the SE for 10 years for instance and I automatically became an indigene of SE, and then I wanted to buy a choice land in the SE and they will be telling me that the land is an ancestral land or community land and cannot be sold to a stranger and then somebody will now take me to one land beside a shrine and ask me to buy it, that's when they will know that I can break bottle on somebody's head. If you are pushing to become an indigene in another man's house, you had better think it twice now. If the bill is passed, we don't want to hear that Fulanis cannot be given free lands for ruga in the SE. Because many Northerners are married to Ibos and have been living in the SE before independence.

Say No to rubbish.
We need diversity and uniqueness.
Same people that claim their culture doesn't allow them to sell family land now want to be indigenes of other lands.
Is that not what RUGA was about.
Thrash that bill proposal.
Lawmakers should focus on
1. Federal police
2. State police and
3. LG police
Careful to protect the people from a power drink governor or executive.

Nothing like Igbophobia. It is only a fool that will allowed his ancestral land be shared with strangers
Which ancestral lands?

The ones una don sell finish for Lagos and Ogun?

Forget that thinking.

The real stakeholders are people who own properties in that geographic area, live there, pay taxes there and contributing to the development of that area.

Not somebody living in Oshogbo but claiming Lagos he has not stepped foot on.
