The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), says the Trans-Kalabari Road Project serves as one strategic effort at addressing the associated socioeconomic difficulties experienced by residents in the riverine communities.

Ibas remarked when he embarked on an inspection tour to the site of the ongoing Trans-Kalabari Road Project in Rumuolumeni Community and the Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters in Rumuokwurushi Community, all in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Monday.

The administrator said the projects must be completed because it will contribute immensely to boosting the socio-economic status of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole.

He said, “We are also very much aware of the very difficult, challenging terrain around here, in terms of communication, and communicating between communities. This project, when completed, I think, will boost the socio-economic life of the state and the nation as a whole.

“We are hoping and imploring the contractors to make sure they keep to the timelines. I think the state government has been able to meet its obligation in terms of making available resources for them. So we are counting on them to keep to the completion time.”

At the Civil Servants Quarters designated for Permanent Secretaries, the ex-naval chief pointed to some challenges experienced by civil servants who need comfortable housing facilities to enable them to perform better at the workplace.

Ibas said, “I have civil servants who have challenges with their accommodation. We have been out there to see how far the project is going and I think I was also assured that the accommodation will be delivered on time so that those who require them will be able to settle down to do their work.”

The administrator reiterated that he is steering the process of building a peaceful state and Rivers people will remain the greatest beneficiaries.

I can't believe in the life of me that Tinubu is this brutal to supplant democracy in Rivers State and impose a military figure just to capitulate opposition to suit his interest. This is an interesting ugly precedent that would be an antecedent to future leadership of this country. Tinubu was only doing so because Obasanjo did it. Jonathan elevated it but not dismissal of a seating Governor. Tinubu took it to a whole new level(That is how antecedent works: you do the same thing when you cite the history of it). Like I wrote earlier, it is an ugly precedent that would be antecedent to future proclamation. To make it worse, Tinubu went and gazetted it, meaning that once the supreme court pronounce in favour of it through some dubious technicalities(because it is not known to law), it would be a reference for further executive arm to roundly implement, citing the supreme Court judgment. Some Tinubu supporters don't even know what this potents to our democracy

A number of PDP-controlled states have approached the Supreme Court. They’re basically asking for the court’s interpretation on the suspension of democratic structures, especially the governor. I think they’ll lose because the judiciary doesn’t like to interfere once the executive claims some national security interest implications. I wish them well; it’s good for our democracy.

PS: It’s very likely they’re doing this to protect their own seats not necessarily because they care about rivers state or the political actors there.

The impostor should be told to declare his asset before he was illegally appointed by Tinubu. The last time his kin, Group Capt Sam Ewang was the military administrator of Rivers state, he stole the State blind. Ibas or what ever he is called, any money of Rivers state that you stole you and Tinubu will account for it.

I thought they said Fubara isn't performing. And is only looting the resources of Rivers state.
