Nigerian Police Officer In Kaduna Threatens Reprisal Attack On Southerners In North Over Edo Killings

A police officer from Kaduna State, Hadaina Hussaini Dan-Taki, has threatening reprisal attacks on southerners living in northern Nigeria.

Dan-Taki's comment came in response to the killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Edo State.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Dan-Taki, through a Facebook post, swore in the name of God, declaring that northerners in the north must take action against southerners.

He further warned that southerners had forgotten that their families were living in the north, vowing that "within one week, the southerners shall see the result."

The post quickly attracted widespread condemnation from social media users, many of whom called out Dan-Taki for inflaming ethnic tensions, especially given his public position as a police officer.

Many expressed concern that his actions could further exacerbate divisions, with some highlighting his police uniform in the controversial post.

According to Dan-Taki, "I swear to Almighty God, we must do something for you guys, have you forgotten all your brothers that are leaving here in the North make my word, after one week you shall see the result."

In response to the criticism, he locked his page, limiting users' ability to view his posts and comments.

Meanwhilw, on Wednesday, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), responded on X to the situation. The police spokesman stated, "Noted for necessary action. Thanks."

SaharaReporters on Tuesday reported that a man from northern Nigeria issued a 48-hour ultimatum to President Bola Tinubu and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, demanding swift action to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing of 16 Northerners in Uromi, Edo State.

In a video seen by SaharaReporters on Tuesday, he had threatened that failure to do so would lead to retaliatory attacks against Southerners residing in the North.

In the three-minute, 30-second video obtained by SaharaReporters, the unidentified man had expressed his concerns over the killings, stating that Northerners would not remain patient in the face of such attacks.

He had implied that any reprisals in the North should be blamed on Southerners.

SaharaReporters had on Monday reported tha 14 suspects arrested over the brutal killing of hunters from Kano State in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, had been transferred to Abuja for further interrogation, as the state governor, Monday Okpebholo, confirmed.

The northerners were on their way to Kano for Sallah celebrations when they were attacked by a mob, their vehicle ransacked, and murdered last Thursday.

The incident had sparked nationwide outrage, with calls for swift justice.

Governor Okpebholo had assured that the perpetrators would face the full weight of the law, describing the attack as unacceptable

If a policeman has this mindset, then there is fire on the mountain.imagine if the riot comes up and any Southerner runs to this one for safety.
