The system needs reform. I even support banning for profit primary healthcare facilities. That way the heartless and greedy ones will leave the professional. Medicines is a noble profession, not for rif rafs and chalatans. If the clinic had treated her and did a go fund me, they will recoup 100X what she owned. That $350, even me as a stranger would have paid it on her behalf. Not everyone places money over human life thankfully.

By the way, an emergency is not a good enough reason to insist you go to the closest clinic or hospital. I can almost guarantee you that in the case of an emergency, most of your politicians will not be taken to a government establishment or clinic that happens to be closest to their homes. Always be prepared.

Same thing happened to me. private hospital are wicked. Hospital I had my first child , after the delivery I bought minerals for all the staffs even the owner of the clinic. I even brought food for the staffs during our naming. Fast forward to having my second child , we had already done deposit during antenatal, so when my wife wanted to deliver the doctor suggested she do cs . Could you imagine this nonsense woman was telling me to make transfer first before they start anything. I was mad. At that point I was trying to sell some funds from my PayPal which delayed but I ended up selling and transferring to the useless doctor. Before they started attending to my wife. My wife was just crying in her condition. That day I hated that doctor . A woman for that matter

In the US, you will be arrested and prosecuted for turning away a patience in an emergency. Many states like the one I live in dont allow for profit in primary care and hospitals because of situations like this. Because of unethical leeching folks like you that put money over human lives. So go stand in one corner and learn and let people with ideas and compassion on improving things offer input instead of injecting emotional poison into a heart breaking story. He was just a regular guy who expected his wife's pregnancy to pass without a major event - like most pregnancies. Unfortunately, his fell among the minority. It's not the hospital's fault, but a working society should have system in place that ensures emergency cases like this are taken care of at public expense.

How can one expect a pregnancy to pass without a major event. The likelihood of having a child vaginally/through CS is 50/50.
You have to plan the moment the lady becomes pregnant.
If that man had offered N300k out of N500k at least that the hospital would not have turned them away.
They could have started shopping around hospitals to know the cost for CS and taken the cheapest option.
I have kids - immediately my husband and I find out that I am pregnant we start putting funds together because anything can happen.

Unfortunately, Healthcare is a both a business and a service. Sorry for your experience.

If you don't have money or a strong financial support system (rich family members or friends) that can come to your aid on very short notice, please don't IMPREGNATE YOUR WIFE. (You can have as much sex as you want without any need for pregnancy if you plan yourselves well)

Some people go thru pregnancy with little or no issues while others, with lots of complications that only money can solve.

Well, that's all some people have. Actually, he probably wasn't told to expect complications and then he started hoping for a miracle. He probably thought things would go well like it has always been for every woman in his family. Until he got unlucky.

I've not seen that thread but it's not realistic - some people can't find that money. But I know people on SM don't live in the real world.

How old are you sef? 12? You clearly haven't lived life to know emergency happens. They didnt even have to treat her, just stabilize her and arrange her transport to a general hospital. If your soul is dead to the point you have no mercy for a pregnant woman then too bad for you and a calamity for anyone that call you a life partner/spouse.
