SAMBARRY:How in the world did you come about this conclusion of yours? Which kain backward disgusting delusional claim is this, abeg? Kobojunkie:so of what use is her husband then? Is a dead man not better than him? At least with a dead man we all know he's dead so what's the usefulness of the husband if he cannot provide for his wife and children? Ok his only usefulness is to be fucking and Impregnating his wife every 3 eke market days abi? You're part of the people encouraging men to be useless and only to be useful in the other room |

How can life be so cheap?Na Africa you dey come marry when you poor. Na you do yourself. She will be replaced. We’ll see him in six years with a new wife and kid. He’ll brag about how they are his world. Life continues. Nigerian hospitals are death traps. Slowly, I’m beginning to agree with Boomers who have a fear of untimely death from visiting them. The most ignorant advice poor people spread is that blessings fall from heaven when you marry. It is not true. Idiots fall for it. I will never. I will rather birth children at seventy years old with all the funds to take care of them than at nineteen with no hope for my next meal. |

DrFunmisticGlow:It's called an emergency for a reason - you can never be fully prepared for it. Just pray to God you don't encounter one beyond your power and financial capacity. A friend of mine was in a similar situation months back. He cried to me for help after spending over a million in less than 48hours. Luckily for him and his wife, treatment was not stopped while he was out sourcing funds to cover the outstanding bill. Your comments and most others on this thread are quite disheartening. Compassion matters even to animals, particularly in matters of life or death as this. Where is our humanity? What has happened to us?? We've become so numb that the sanctity of human life means absolutely nothing us anymore. |

Kobojunkie:It is a sad story. But like you wrote, there is a 9-month period to prepare. The man should take some blames, and not the hospital, especially for this reason. Who knows if the hospital do have maternity services? If he had deposited, say 10% of the requested deposit, who knows the hospital might have commenced treatment. The situation he narrated shows he didn't offer any amount, and the hospital actually referred them to a government hospital, where they might get better treatment and at a cheaper or even free rate. That wasn't bad from this private hospital. Moreover, if he didn't have enough money for deposit, he should have gone to a government hospital first. I think private hospitals can be expensive because of the bills and salaries they need to pay. Sad situation, but hope Nigerians would learn. |

SAMBARRY:. Again, the adult woman who is now dead chose to marry that very man and give him as father to her children — yes, those children are equally hers. She chose him for a husband and father to her kids. She is not a victim in this. ![]() 2. On the contrary, I am rather highlighting the fact that women are not victims in marriage/relationships but partners. ![]() |

Cmanforall:Nigerians don't really like to learn much. ![]() I bet you that as we speak, another woman from a poverty background is also planning to engage a man from a poverty background in a relationship, expecting it all to magically turn out well because this particular bad decision was made by her. The real victims here remain the children that these sorts of unions continue to produce, or is it kill, in this case. ![]() |

pocohantas:True! Though we did not witness the situation, it can be deduced from his story that he didn't leave IMMEDIATELY to the government hospital he was referred to, being an emergency. The Nigerian nature might have even delayed their arrival to the referred government hospital. For example- begging the private hospitalto commence treatment (time will be going), making phone calls (more time going), waiting for a cab (if they didn't have one already waiting), traffic ( another delay) etc. |

Sheuns:If this is true, then the hospital suggested a better option for them due to their financial situation. The question should be, did this man leave immediately to the government hospital or he was hoping the private hospital will change their mind, thereby delaying his wife the opportunity for emergency care in the government hospital? |

Kobojunkie:Everyone gets emotional whenever hospital is mentioned because a life is involved. But we forget that private hospital is a business. And like every business, na pay before service. What do you think will happen if they finish treating the woman and the man says he has no money? Of course, the hospital will not discharge her, and it is this same husband of hers that will go to tv stations to lament that the hospital is holding his wife hostage. Some of us talking will jump window and go home after being treated on credit. These things happen regularly. Who do you think will suffer the loss? That innocent nurse that also has children to feed cos her salary will be deducted. We have 9mths to prepare, yet we won't and then we look for who to blame. I'm sure the hospital won't send them away if the man paid half of the money for them to start work while he sources for the rest. But you can't expect them to start work when the only thing in your pocket is #3500. Sometimes let us put ourselves in the shoes of these hospital staff. If you want cheap or even free services, go to government hospital. You can't go to a 5star hotel to eat without money and get angry at them for throwing you out. Let us not forget that children are very expensive venture from beginning till end. I don't know why we have placed so much attention on having plenty children. He was telling the wife to stay for their children but he doesn't have anything. "Children" means 2 or more children at home. What else was he looking for when he doesn't have money and is obviously not credit worthy? If your monthly income in this current naija is 250k or less, do not have children. If it is between 250k and 500k, have only 1 kid. Between 500k and 800k, you can have 2 kids. Between 800k and 1.5m 3kids. Above 1.5m, 4 kids and never go above 4kids no matter what you earn. |

Macmilla:A person who makes less than $2000/N3,000,000 a month should have no business having more than 1 kid, if at all. That same amount of money is needed for the individual to thrive; if two they are pushing it as far as staying above the poverty line. Adding a kid to that same household already means giving up on a decent life and living for all 3 individuals in the family. That is the world we live in and are going to remain in. ![]() |

TechCapon:According to reports, his 1st 2 kids were through 'birth attendants' but this one presented itself a bit more complicated. Sometimes when we managed to escape things due to God's mercies, we venture into it again, taking things for granted. He had 6( in case of premature birth)-9 months to plan financially or STOP at 2 kids and use protection, giving the other 2 kids better quality of life. He also had time to 'shop' around for hospitals in case of anything but many people don't plan, ie having plan B. They want their wives to always give birth like the Hebrew women. So, the women labor and both mother and baby are TIRED. Just like looking for school for one's toddler, it is better months or even years prior to enrollment to see the affordable, good ones around. Affordable, good enough government hospitals too. If we say government should compulsorily provide NHIS insurance cover, how will these ones pay their own part? Now is not the time to impregnate wives anyhow without prior PROPER financial planning. |

Kobojunkie:For once, Junkie my babe has made sense. These guys paint hospitals as poor as they can. They rush to the hospital, begging like their lives depend on it, but las las they won't pay shishi. In the end, the hospital take it as a loss. How long would the hospitals continue like this? They forget its a business. Instead of clamouring for a better healthcare from their government like sane countries, they are blasting the hospitals on social media Gang of iddioots |
