Who gave Umahi the right to ground the biggest economy in Nigeria and the whole of Africa by closing one bridge ehn??

He should stop meddling in awa Lagos and go back to Ebonyi !

Ah ah..just by closing one bridge in Lagos that has rail and water transportation , and he was still able to jam-pack us like sardine ehn!!!

Na wa ohhh..we wont take this!!!

Can business men be forced to move or create their business in other states?
Not forced... I never used nor implied that term.

They can be attracted or shown the benefit of investing in other states as long as what I have mentioned are put in place.

Not every business in Lagos would be there if the ease of doing business there was readily available in Delta, Imo, Plateau or Bayelsa.

We were already on track towards this during pdp... Unfortunately, Insecurity punctured it, and under Buhari it practically ended.

Look at the number of businesses Ipob/UGM's activities iced in the Southeast alone.

As we type, Lagos is largely regarded as the safest, if not the only relatively safe, state in the entire nation.

A single state regarded as relatively safe out of 36 states is a national SHAME!

Honestly if every state government develop their state like Lagos, in the long run Lagos will become decongested.

That's just the truth...!

If Delta, Edo, Rivers, Anambra, Imo, and others had extensive infrastructures and high security, with good government support to SMEs, what exactly would most people be doing in Lagos?!!

Almost half of those living in that metropolis are practically living there against their wills and better judgement.

The cost and stress of living coupled with the fact that quality of life depreciates daily in Lagos are more than enough reasons to make anyone relocating there to rethink.

They're all so stupid they just don't care ....Lagos state is already planning a 2nd seaport on the Lekki axis and you know what that means

This type of job should have carried out in the night and before day break all done but you could be surprise if anyone dares such job at night the next you will hear is a staff of the construction company kidnap in the night on site etc so it's very confusing, however they should use another method to do the job and at the same time ease traffic jam.

No need to insult Lagos govt it's federal work and announcement had be made before the closure.

you are right but unfortunately most morons will not see that overcrowding is really the problem that lagos has, the place is crowded from top to bottom with too much, too many people , too many companies , too many active seaports. if most of those companies and other ports in the country were given priority lagos would become decongested in 6 months

Some people suggested that they should implement counter flow measures, but that's going to be a bit difficult.

As you can see from the picture above, each carriageway is like a separate bridge. The eastern carriageway lands at Onikan, while the western carriageway lands at Marina. There's open space between both carriageways. It'll be difficult to move vehicles from one carriageway to the other.

Furthermore, Outer Marina has very fast moving eastward bound traffic and it will be very dangerous to land westward bound traffic there, while the Onikan area is already a traffic bottleneck.

Some people suggested that the repair work should be done at night and the bridge should be opened in the mornings, but as you can see from the videos above, that's not possible.
Works like that should be carried out overnight or on Sundays. That's how it's done in a saner clime. Construction works are done when roads are likely to be less busy

It depends on the type of construction work. If they only work at night, how will motorists use the road during the day if it has no surface?

Besides, the idea that construction work does not cause this type of traffic jams in developed countries is simply not true. Have you heard of the Great Traffic Jam of China?

you are going too far, if all the southern states had one port each as functional as the ones in lagos, i swear nobody from the southeast would be going to lagos regularly, they would easily go to rivers state, akwa ibom and delta states to clear and sell their goods

In China, what they do is to restrict the number of private vehicles on the road using an alphabetical letter structure taken from number plates.

That's what they did in Nigeria in the past (it's called Odd and Even number), but Nigerians complained and invented methods of beating the system.

Can business men be forced to move or create their business in other states?
No. But easy access to Lagos via bullet train or subway can trigger people to live happily in neighboring states and work in lagos. With that. The vehicles on the road during rush hours will reduce.

Should Dangote throw away his money because you are poor? Did Lagos stops other states from growing and creating enable environment? When some states refused to grow by allowing a tele-scammer from far away Finland to lock them up every Monday, do you expect Lagos to wait for them?

When some states dwell on fantasy of "we no dey borrow sisi.." for development and see it as form of pride in ignorance, a state like Lagos despite being rich still borrow reasonable loans with lowest payback rates to fast track development to retain her position as economic hub of africa, you want Lagos to wait for those crawling snail states?

There is room for every state to grow without decongesting Lagos for you

We kept failing and we will keep failing. We can't forecast and anticipate properly for what we ought to do to prevent our immediate problems, let alone for the future. And so, they have to close the bridge again. I don't think getting right once is a rocket science.

This shows lack of planning ....poor vision and lack of accountability. Can one carriageway be closed at a time? Yes?...then what detours can be used to divert the traffic without causing much congestion? Why can't work be done 24/7 to reduce the time?
Giving people advance warning is not enough. That person need to be fired. For the Governor to stop work will add a lot to the cost and people responsible need to be fired.

sad sad

Must they suffer people first b4 they find an alternative solution to things.....

I was at VI around the bus stop I take bus since after 3, I didn't leave the bus as it was stuck till quarter to 5.....i had to give myself sense and trekked from VI to Ikoyi falomo....

Why are our govt so useless and stupid...

The other one of last year when this same useless federal govt closed down a section of 3rd mainland bridge and caused a standstill on the island........

I personally prefer hold up on the mainland than island... On the mainland, there are other shortcuts unlike island wey be one way....

Lagos is really reducing the life span of Nigerians
Just curious, can't people who feel Lagos is reducing their life span of people relocate to another state? Abi dem bury their umbilical cord for Lagos?
