LordBiden:
Instead of him focusing on how to ease cost of living in the USA by enacting policies that will bring down prices of goods,, he is busy fighting nonsensical trade war.

He should brace up for retaliations from eu countries and china since he wants to be stupid.

American farmers will pay for this.
That's exactly what he is doing. Wait a minute, are you saying it's okay for others to impose ridiculous tariffs on American products/serviceshuh

That's the 20th wonder of the world. America has been subsidising nations.

See how all of them are crying except a few that see opportunities.
America subsidized nations that were buying it's printed paper dollars for their trades without an adequate security.

More so, who and how would America pay it's debts?

Your idea is an American rhetoric. You need to view things from both ends.

US in a larger scale had been milking the world's trading system with the centralization of USD. Wake up.

No Man is an island.

America needs order countries too
But those countries have imposed tariffs on American goods for years, so why is everyone crying foul now? You can't ignore the fact that many nations rely on American manpower to generate their wealth. Nobody truly wins in this scenario, but the world still needs America, much as I hate to admit it. The China we see today simply cannot fill America's shoes.

The EU has placed American products on tariffs for a long time and trump reciprocating now is evil, humans ehenn. I will advise people to study things on there own and not believe all they are told.

How can a country that slams upto a 50% tariff on US imported goods be crying fowl that the US retaliated by imposing half(25%) of what those countries slammed on them.

Pls economist help
Trump is not retaliating against anyone, he is the one starting this where there was no problem, rather its others that will retaliate against the USA. Think of it, which country in the world do you think will start a trade war with the USA? NONE.

This is all Trump and his egoistic foolishness.

Stop lying. Stop spewing ignorance. This is being started by Trump.
BTW what do you mean by the bold? Tarriffs are normal and have always existed except where you have free trade areas. The issue at hand is about arbitrary increases in tarrfiffs and that is being initiated by Trump and not the EU.

Cost of living will drop if Americans buy Made in America products, their exports will be cheaper too creating more jobs for US economy. Its in America interest but detrimental to countries which has America as their major trading partners

My brother, it's nothing to do with economics. They have been spoonfed for so long, they feel it's their right

You know when you are nice, and people call you mugu behind your back, taking advantage. Suddenly, you realise yourself one day, and say enough is enough, then they tell you you have changed and are now mean, that's exactly what's happening.

From the replies of world leaders, you can see who are used to having free stuff, who know there's some truth in Trumps facts and who hopes for this and sees an opportunity.

The worst aspect is that he doesnt even understand how tariffs work. A person who came to office pledging to fight inflation is flinging tariffs around when clearly that will lead to a spike in prices and the impact will fall on American consumers.
grin And...?
Kontinue na! the rise in prices will force the economy to abandon foreign imports that can be sourced in America grin
e.g why export timber,, when you have it more than the people you are patronizing? why export electricity from canada? wot happened to your own plants? etc
Remember the slogan, drill baby drill? grin

you will be talking as if USA na ur papa land...but nigeria can be treated anyhow.

Its nearly imposibble to import cars in nigeria right now...thats over-the-ceiling tarrif...so nigeria can do it, trump can't do it

Donald Trump just put a gun to the head of the global economy and pulled the trigger.
The last time tarriffs of this sort were implemented in 1929, the global economy entered a great depression. That was the Smooth - Hawley act. Since then economists have steered clear of tarriffs and never recommend them.

Trump being the eternal idiot that he is, has destroyed the global economy as it is. Rather unsurprisingly, he has left out only Russia from these tarriffs. He has always been a Russian asset.

The hypocrisy is simply baffling.

The man placed half of the tariffs each them placed on the US, on their own countries, and they are wailing.

Even Tinubu’s prisoners are joining to condemn him because CNN said so.

Take your drugs. Can one country go to trade war with all the countries of the world and win? Use your senses once in a while
No mind that clown 🤡

Trump thinks this method will work as it did in the 20th century during McKinley's Industrial America era.

This economic model worked because the U.S. had a fully integrated supply chain and a massive labor pool willing to work industrial jobs for low pay. In many ways, America from 1880 to 1930 resembled what China is today a manufacturing juggernaut with low costs and an enormous workforce.

It would be entirely different situation now with Trump’s era and will plung Americans into a recession . On the long run, they will lurn

he's not fighting anyone, he's just increasing the price of goods for his own citizens. The people complaining are only complaining because they fear Americans will no longer be able to afford things they used to buy from them. Trump is running Buhari and Tinubu style of economy.

China has already gotten the edge.

It's too late already.
You are right, if American play their card well they can slow it down and play a better 2nd option to China. The only countries that would help US achieve that are the ones the US are antagonizing - Canada, EU, Australia.

I think Trump is playing to the gallery so that the American masses will allow him go through with his 3rd term agenda. If the effect of the tariffs kicks in soon enough, that will be the end of Republican in the coming elections. At least Wisconsin showed Elon the door even with all his money.

Americans just decided to elect a mad man as president without considering the consequences. The likes of Trump are not fit for leadership of a world power country like the USA! He's capable of plunging the world into another world war if not checked.

I pray he gets impeached before he does major damages to world peace!

European Union should stand stronger together with Canada. I don't even know why UK left the EU sef. Trumps trade wars aren't necessary to be honest.
