koladata:Is there any bread for adults and any for children? Come on you guys should stop this na. For every one person that doesn't like the bread, there are hundreds more who love it so they had already done their survey and they know their target customers. Honestly you need to visit bokku stores and see how many people even elderly are queueing up for the bread. They got it spot on! Even the bread can stay up to 5days without decomposing cos of the quality yeast and my work colleagues on the island always want me to bring some when coming to work. What you mostly perceive and taste in that bread isn't really sugar. It's majorly milk and butter. They add lots of milk to the bread. Next time you buy the bread, look at the warning at the back. People who are lactose intolerant need to avoid eating too much of it in one sitting due to the high amount of milk. |

Agboriotejoye:Store count is evident for everyone to see. Even if another store is added based on store count, bokku would still lead. The Op got the info from nairametrics I believe but if you have a better version, you can upload here at least nairaland is also for learning one or two |
| Re: Top 10 Supermarket Chains By Store Count In Nigeria by Agboriotejoye(m): 12:22pm On Apr 04, 2025 |
Azazyel:I already asked you to read what I wrote slowly The Op said the stores where chosen based on standard of size. That's his own words Why are you trying to change the narrative on his behalf If he knew the info is from nairametrics, he shouldn't have added to it what is not there. Nairametrics are not infallible. I personally feel GB should be there given that I'm seeing some with just 8 counts. My point is if the Op is claiming "standardised supermarkets" was a factor in Nairametric's research, then the outcome is already faulty since everyone knows Bokku stores cannot clearly qualify as "standardised supermarkets" |

kay29000:They are also advertising in electronic mainstream media that I've monitored online. I never heard of Bokku until 2025 tbh. They have to ensure they do NOT get overextended in order to gain the required ROI on their investments. |

haybhi1:Arm chair analyst. You dey inside one room see Alaba and Ladipo. Mr. Baba sope, talk about things that you are informed about. Alaba market by far generates more revenue than all the superstores put together. You have little shops with goods in millions. Your superstores purchase their electronics stocks from Alaba market, except for LG. The bakery machines used by Bokku, I believe are purchased in Alaba market. It is not known as th biggest electronics and electrical market in Africa for nothing. With over 10,000 standard shops, how can you compare it to the few superstores scattered nationwide? Unfortunately politics and tribalism would not allow your people to fix the connecting roads. If government plays its role, they should get taxes in billions from the shops, as the business owners are more than willing to pay, if all conditions are right. Until the arrival of baba go slow in 2015, Alaba market used to receive over 500 containers of various goods from various parts of the world daily. After Baba go slow, Nigeria had and now experiences ebi n pawa. If 100 containers arrive daily, it is with celebration. Ojo local government where Alaba is located, is supposed to be one of the richest in the federation, but rather than put its acts together, they are playing tribal politics. Government should fix the stretch of road between the local government hqt and Sunny bus stop. |

forgiveness:Which Africa countries? Naivas stores in Kenya alone is more than all the stores combined. Go to SA and see stores. Nigeria is backward when it comes to modern trading. Niajas can brag for nothing. |

Azazyel:That must be a bread made from well-made bread recipe for it to last for 5 whole days before going rancid or mouldy in room temperature. It takes normally about two days max to store bread at room temperature before it begins to go stale. Storing bread at room temperature in a cool, dry place (in a bread can/bread box or airtight container) is ideal. |

Agboriotejoye:Okay I just discovered something. ShopRite and spar should not be on that list. They are hypermarkets not supermarkets. Nairametrics fumbled. Bokku mart is a supermarket. Evidence below: Supermarket: Focus: Primarily sells food and grocery items, along with some household goods and personal care products. Size: Medium to large, typically ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 square feet. Product Range: Limited to groceries and related items. Location: Often located in residential areas for convenience. Example: A typical grocery store that you might find in a neighborhood. Hypermarket: Focus: Offers a wide variety of products, including groceries, electronics, clothing, furniture, and more. Size: Much larger, often exceeding 100,000 square feet. Product Range: Extensive, encompassing a broad range of goods. Location: Often located in larger spaces, sometimes outside of residential areas. Example: Walmart Supercenter or a similar large retail store that offers everything under one roof. |

kay29000:They're yet to tell us what they're really into. Cos you can't tell me that you'll keep investing hundreds of millions on properties just to sell regular groceries people can get anywhere. What's their profit margin to begin with? |

Konquest:It's quality bread honestly. This is what Nigerians need right now. The first time I tried it and discovered the shelf life of the bread, I stopped buying any other bread. Also bokku mart has the best prices that you can't get in any other supermarket in Lagos when it comes to groceries, beverages, junk food, drinks, household items e.t.c |
| Re: Top 10 Supermarket Chains By Store Count In Nigeria by Nazgul: 4:07pm On Apr 04, 2025 |
kay29000:Lol. In my area, I've counted about 4 of their stores within walking distance from each other. It's not like they're into tech that one can easily conclude that they can rake in hundreds of millions as turnover at the end of the year if their services is accepted worldwide. They sell regular groceries which you can easily get at cheaper rates from mallams and shops within your neighborhood. So what's their profit margin considering how much they spend on staff salaries, electricity, building cost, taxes...etc. Are they making profit at all? |
