There is no point having LG autonomy if the chairmen are living in the capital of the state.

Firstly Governance must be firmly established in the LG HQ
He should have a Chairman’s house the way we have a Governor’s house in the capital.

The Vice Chairman must be identifiable

The councillors lost also be housed in official quarters.

There should be a LG security team consisting of Customs, immigration, civil defence, police , the army , airforce and navy. Including forest guards and state vigilante groups.

I believe with all this in place the end of marauding bandits killing people would be over.

The LG chairman is the chief security officer of the LG


In fact I was wondering where was the LG Chairman in uromi when that heinous killing was going on.

I think Adams Oshiomole was the first person to come up with this during his time as governor. But how good people can turn evil within a short period of time still amaze me

No, most northern state governor's stay in Abuja. Back then yahaya bello used to govern kogi from Abuja. Sometimes drive to lokoja and come back to abuja same day. even the supreme Court governor of imo stays more in Abuja, his daughter married in Abuja. To show how bad it is.

That is why they should have a LG Chairman’s house in the LG HQ. By not staying in your LG u simply make it an ungoverned space so terrorist like BH and herdsmen steps in.

If they read this your Boko Haram stuff, they will never set foot in their LG again.

Building a residential for them at the quarter may be far fetched as there might be security concerns because some LGs offices are located in the outskirts and are isolated, but they must be resident in the LG, fully resident.

The bottom line is if you cannot live in your LG then don’t run. Local people should run their LG.
