Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump China has been hit much harder than the USA, not even close. They, and many other nations, have treated us unsustainably badly. We have been the dumb and helpless "whipping post," but not any longer. We are bringing back jobs and businesses like never before. Already, more than FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS OF INVESTMENT, and rising fast! THIS IS AN ECONOMIC REVOLUTION, AND WE WILL WIN. HANG TOUGH, it won't be easy, but the end result will be historic. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!

But sir, your tariffs are sending shockwaves across the stock market with trillions of dollars lost already and more to come. Cost of living will definitely hit the roof in coming days. |

This post from Donald Trump reflects an alarming level of hypocrisy, naivety, and a lack of understanding of the broader economic realities. First, the very claim that China has "treated us unsustainably badly" ignores the fundamental fact that trade relationships are reciprocal. If America has been taken advantage of, it's because of decades of bad policy choices that were made under his watch and by his predecessors—many of whom were his allies. Rather than acknowledge the mistakes of past administrations, Trump has chosen to scapegoat others and deflect attention from his own failings. Moreover, his assertion that America is somehow "bringing back jobs and businesses like never before" rings hollow. In reality, the jobs he's referring to often come with low wages, unstable benefits, or are part of industries that are fundamentally unsustainable. The illusion of job creation ignores the reality of automation and globalization, forces that no amount of rhetoric can undo. The promise of "more than five trillion dollars of investment" is another hollow boast, as such figures often fail to address the underlying issues of income inequality and the deepening wealth gap that his policies have exacerbated. Trump's rhetoric also ignores a critical point: the policies that hurt other countries will eventually rebound on America. The imposition of tariffs and trade wars, meant to "bring back jobs," often results in higher costs for consumers and undermines the very businesses he claims to support. If we continue down this path, the fallout will be a trade war that damages American workers more than it helps them—an irony that's lost on his supporters, who continue to cheer on policies that ultimately hurt their own economic stability. The hypocrisy of those supporting Trump is just as glaring. They cheer on a president who touts his "economic revolution" while actively undermining the social safety net and reducing funding for the very public services that would help ordinary Americans weather these economic challenges. They blindly follow a leader who engages in crony capitalism, enriching himself and his allies, while leaving the vast majority of Americans struggling. Rather than "making America great again," we are heading toward a future of increased division, weakened global standing, and an economy that benefits the rich at the expense of the working class. Trump’s promises are nothing more than empty slogans, and the reality of his policies will be a historic failure for America—one that his supporters will eventually have to confront. |

Who pays for high tariff? Not the government but the people. If the money goes back into the American citizens pocket, it's a win. In a certain west African country called Nigeria, this would just be more money for politicians and civil servants to loot. |

plaetton:That's not the case. Trump is trying to accelerate the impact of the interest rates by using tariffs as a form of pressure. This tactic is to finish what the hike in rates is expected to do, that's why he's pushing the Federal Reserve to lower rates now to prevent a recession from the combined effects. While the tariff strategy aims to address global imbalances and encourage other countries to offer the best deals to the U.S, it also sets the stage for the president to implement the largest tax cuts that he promised the Americans. I believe Mr. President got a plan.

Well, good for him and his country...! I'm all for international balance of trade. It all comes down to the negotiation table at this point. However, if Trump is all out to extract a pound of flesh from global leaders in this path, then he is setting up his citizens to really go through hard times. |

Trump lies a lot in-terms of figures. It’s too early to compare. Wait until American companies want to import new stock. One thing I admire about China is that they will still come out stronger. Don’t waste your time trying to bend China. An average Chinese citizen does not mind eating only once a day for the long term benefit of their country. That is not even possible in US. |
