...and I am telling you that is daft!

How will Troponin and D.dimer be screening tests?

Do you know what they are for?

Stop spewing rubbish abeg!
So you see, Mr Quelme, that's the risk of making assertions on NL - there could be an expert in the audience who knows better than you! cheesy

Peace To The Fallen.

The importance of regular health check can not be over emphasized.

You see the following tests:

D- dimer
Troponin I
Renal function
Liver function
Lipid profile and full blood count

If you can't afford a blood work every 3 months, always ensure you conduct them at least once in 6 months.

Your Indian patient probably has family history or abnormal ECG. Also, I bet he's not a healthy, active, 40-year-old boxer!

*Maybe they should start having cardiologists on hand before sports events to do all those tests
most 40 year old in any sport are already retired or closed to retiring. 40+ and above is already a predisposing factor, coupled with other factors such as lifestyle.

Look up myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism and ischaemic heart attack

I know you have seen footballers collapsing on the pitch who look healthy and active.

If I may ask, how do tell who is healthy from an unhealthy person?

Well, George Foreman was 45 years old when he won the heavyweight championship the second time. I can bet you all they did was check his heart-rate like everyone else, NOT bring in a cardiologist to be performing a series of tests on a healthy, active, top-notch boxer!myocardial infarction (heart attack

* Myocardial infarction (MI) simply means heart attack
* Pulmonary embolism (PE) happens when a blood clot or other substance blocks an artery in the lungs, causing a lack of blood flow to the lungs.
* Ischemic heart attack is simply another term for a heart attack, specifically one caused by reduced blood flow to the heart due to narrowed or blocked arteries.

the person you call expert is here throwing tantrums like a kid without saying anything reasonable.

Congenital hypothyroidism
Cystic fibrosis
Glutaric aciduria type 1
Homocystinuria
Isovaleric acidaemia
Maple syrup urine disease
Medium chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency
Phenylketonuria
Sickle cell disease

The tests I listed are the routine blood spot screening we usually carry out for newborn about a week old in my place of practice. Now tell me, on a regular are these tests conducted in Nigeria for new borns? Just because Nigerians don't have access to standard health which is obtainable elsewhere doesn't mean other developed countries with good healthcare system have lowered the bar.

I'm a combination of an expert/specialist, okay!!!

For George Foreman, no public records as to the series of test he conducted to be cleared for his bout.

While less common, other substances besides blood clots can cause a PE, such as fat from a broken bone, air bubbles, or part of a tumor.

You see the part I highlighted, one of the causes of PE. And please don't forget, PE can cause cardiac arrest...

This is actually deceptive. Nigerian Boxing actually APPROVED him to fight on a card but he barely missed the weight. So they APPROVED him to fight, only that it wasn't THIS fight. Has nothing to do with his health.
SCD (sudden cardiac death) is sometimes the very first sign that anything is wrong
He was depressed he owes a lot back home about 500k dollars that's why he self arrange for this fight without the Nigerian boxing unfortunately it ended his life .

Heart attack is different from Cardiac attack.
Cardiac is what I read which means the heart battery just stopped. Heart attack blood is restricted which can be corrected with surgery . Cardiac usually a pacemaker if caught in time prior.

Some may be slow, but most are sudden, quick. They just slump and die.
