Solution: Legalize ownership of guns. Let everybody carry his/her gun.

If terrorists, bandits, cattle herders, cult members, kidnappers and all other criminals can carry guns and move about freely, why can't every Nigerian own a gun?

A former Director-General of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), Maharazu Tsiga, on Thursday said he was able to come out alive from kidnappers’ den by the help and mercies of God.

Mr Tsiga, a retired brigadier general, said this when he and 18 other victims were reunited with their families by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, in Abuja.

Mr Tsiga regained his freedom after spending 56 days in captivity having been abducted from his hometown Tsiga, in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State on 5 February, alongside nine other residents.

He said his safe return was the kind of situation worthy of celebration.

He said that apart from the danger he and victims faced from their abductors, they were equally confronted with the risk of being hurt by wild animals in the mountain in which they were kept.

“The day before yesterday, on the mountain I was staying, unexpectedly, we just look around, we saw hyena parading around us to get its own food. And which kind of food? We, the human beings.

“Those of us that experienced that place, we always stay with snakes, scorpions.

“And one bad experience, particularly for those of us who, they knew our rank, whenever they are being attacked, sincerely speaking, they bring us out, so that the aircraft can hit us.

“But you know God is merciful.

“When a rocket was sent to us, it did not explode. They carried that rocket and kept it where I am sleeping so that immediately I come and touch it, it will explode.

“And that is why I told us, God is merciful,” he said.

The former NYSC DG also revealed that the nature of food they were fed was another threat to his health.

According to Mr Tsiga, the terrorists said that those of them that were in uniform, government is always putting money for them to keep.

The retired army general also revealed that the terrorists only feared military aircraft, adding that they did not even fear God but military aircraft.

Mr Tsiga called on all Nigerians to join hands to fight and defeat insecurity in the country, saying that security should be seen as a collective responsibility of all.

“We should not sit down and believe that the government can do it alone. We must do it ourselves.

“So we thank Almighty God for giving us this opportunity to live again,” he said.
According to Tsiga even their cows would start running.... So it mean FULANI are the one committing these crimes

A full-blooded Nigerian general, trained with tax payers money , decorated with emblems , former commander troops, and once feared—was kidnapped from a street ? Something is not adding up.
Something like what? Lol.
Was he armed at the time of kidnapping? Was he protected at the time?
One was kidnapped in his home in Abuja, this year or late last year. One was travelling back to his base and he was attacked and killed, I think this year. What about Alex Badeh? Everyone has vulnerable moment

Until we totally remove cash from our economy, criminals will continue to exploit the seemingly untraceability of cash.

No Nigerian must be seen with cash that is more than N50k.

ATMs must limit weekly cash withdrawals to that amount per person/BVN.
Security agencies should rise to the occasion. Not removing cash.. Stop throwing the baby with the bath water!!

Change this your way of thinking, so we should label all yorubas as ritualists or Yahoo , or all Igbos as drug dealers, or Most EDO women as prostitutes because of their bad eggs. Typical stereotyping.

They keep repeating that we should contribute to national security. How, may I ask? They never mentioned that part.

What do you want us to contribute when you've taken everything from us. Do you want us to enter the bush in hunt of herdmen with sticks and stones?

They push him forward but helicopter is missing target. They fire rockets that do not explode.

If he were rescued, this press conference would carry more weight but from what I just watched, I am not seeing the cause for any celebration.

Call it banditry or terrorism, it is a multi million business in Nigeria. When Jonathan sent general Ihejirika to decimate Boko Haram the North rose against him. They accused him of genocide. One idiot openly said ATTACK ON BOKO HARAM IS ATTACK ON THE NORTH.

They threatened to drag Jonathan to world court. It is a business.

So NAF get their location but intentionally fire unarmed missiles and CCMK rounds.

It's like these kidnapping stuff are well connected.

From the height an aircraft dislodges a Rocket, a Rocket is supposed to explode on impact so if it is not exploding, are suppliers supplying fake Rockets to the Military
^^^
It happens.

Equipment malfunctions sometimes - that's just the way it is.

There have been some examples of unexploded ordnance in the Russia-Ukraine conflict...just as in other countless wars over the last century. That's why war is so dangerous to everyone - as recently as 20 to 30 years ago, ordinary people (including children, sadly) were still discovering unexploded ordnance from WWII.

The rockets are not fake. Sometimes they don't detonate or ignite on impact as expected but they are still 'live' and if mishandled by unqualified personnel, they can and will ignite or explode.

National disgrace. On top of it, we still aren't shameful as a country, nor have we shown any seriousness or readiness to tackle these monsters once and for all.
By now I expect that political representatives from Katsina to be moving motion to ban open grazing since these daredevils use it as a guise to perpetrate their evil acts. Also, instead of this needless video, I expected to see scores of those idiots being paraded, that is after they must have sent another scores six feet under. What about a full independent investigation being conducted on the likelihood of some serving officers within our security architecture being collaborators?

It does add up.

The system is breaking down. When a system is collapsing then we get the results playing out before us in Nigeria today - in real time. Not long before total shutdown - at the rate we are going.

You describe him as a 'full blooded', decorated Nigerian general, once feared etc. No sir. He is only a man. One thing that has come out of this Boko Haram/rogue herdsmen/bandit nonsense is the complete and thorough demystification of the Nigerian military. For many, many years Nigerian civilians had to live with extremely brutal treatment from soldiers...because soldiers are meant to be 'feared' by civilians for no reason at all. undecided

Well...not anymore. What is very clear now is that we all bleed red, soldier and civilian alike.

if at this age, this old man can not be bold to call out government as to why NOBODY has deemed it fit to propose death penalty or any major penalties for kidnappers, then he also has a hand in it.

In actual sense, there is no difference between wild animals and kidnappers. Those kidnappers are actually worse than the hyenas you were afraid of.

That said, Nigerians came out enmasse to protest against SARS, but are silent about the incessant rates of kidnapping that has engulfed the country. These kidnappers know the average Nigerian is a coward and are capitalising on that to wreak havok. Until we stand up and begin to fight those bastards, they will continue to have a field day.

undecided he said the food for ordinary kidnapped victim is not fit for human consumption.
Government had to send feeding allowance for him and probably the medicines he has to take with age.
He said hyenas dey and na mountain.
That means the air force have a better vision and height.
That also means animals are available in the north for hunters to hunt.
That's an aside.
He said we all have to be involved. How you may ask?
I think by being discerning.
When you see someone with kurukere waka alert neighbours, vigilantes and police.
When you get information you can share them anonymously.
When you hear people cry out for help, form a band and as a a united crowd you can disorient the evil men, cause panic and make them flee.
Many kidnappings have been foiled by lay men and yes women who had no guns.
So how did they do it?
Having travelled through Katsina I wonder how the kidnappers were able to convey him and other victims out of town without any alarm or suspicion being raised?

But in all I thank God and pray for God's mercies on those who died in captivity
