$1 will not get you any snacks in the US. Mention the snacks or delete your comment.
You can get low fat Greek yogurt for a $1.

You can get pinto beans for less than a dollar.

Dry cereals, chicken breast, oats, tofu, canned tuna and salmon...

I have mentioned snacks/food. Now delete your comment.

When I checked the name of the writer, I was not wrong in my guess at all. Behold, it's one of those stupid agbado monkeys. He should have compared the minimum wage in Nigeria and America too.
Yeye is oozing walahi.

If we take into account the significant income disparity and the current rising costs of living, then this statement is misleading.
Highly misleading.

The comparison is not commensurating,if you want to compare unit, compare it with unit, don’t compare unit with ten.
You will compare 1 dollar to 1 naira, that’s how a sensible economist should talk.
What can you buy with 1 naira in Nigeria?
Even if we compare unit to 100 here? It still shows how bad the country is.
One usd compare to 100 naira here is worthless,
1 usd can buy a satisfying and tangible snack that will fill your stomach there but 100 naira here can’t buy some sweet/ candy. Whereas candies can’t quench your hunger.
#1 self is too much, #20 self is now useless.

The man made some senses here. I remember during the just concluded, I ate lunch (3 rolls of sermo though very small with 2 meats and maybe plus like 2 sachet of water) with just something that is not up to N1.5k in Okinni area of Osun state.

I know some people won't believe this.
You know how many hours a minimum wage worker would earn that in Nigeria?🇳🇬 about 4 hours to earn 1500

Now in US a minimum wage worker would earn ($7.25) 11k in one hour.

Do the maths

Some Tinubu s aides are a testament that he doesn't have good plan for Nigerians.
Bayo Onanuga, then this one.
One by one they will all come out to confess their real ideology behind their policies.

Must he eat KFC in Nigeria? KFC is an American something. Why would it not be expensive in Nigeria?

He can eat amala and ewedu with assorted. It’s even more nutritious, and far cheaper than all this western stuff like KFC, meat pies, shawarma, etc.

It’s your thirst for FOREIGN that is hurting you people.

Instead of looking for ABULA JOINT, you are looking for KFC and MacDonalds.

Keep looking. The thing you are looking for, you will find it one day. 👨‍💻
And the amala and ewedu is an american meal in the US when he craves it? Your comprehension level is below average. You'll appear intelligent if you keep off your keypads. Don't bother to quote me, you won't get the luxury of getting a second response.

N1500 or $1 can buy you several heavy meals in Nigeria, especially in the village.
There are places in my village you will go to, and even 100 naira food, you won’t finish.
how do you people arrive at finding logic in comparing expenses between US and and Nigeria without comparing income in the 2 countries.

You are comparing expenses with a country where even unemployment income varies from a low of $940/month to a high of $4060/month (depending on state), on top of that the unemployed still gets section 8 housing and even foodstamp of more than $200/month.
A country where low-income earners get yearly tax refund that is comparable(even more) to annual salary of someone earning 250k/month in Nigeria

What an idiotic statement!

Earning $10 in the US and earning $1 in Nigeria, which one is easier?

It's all about purchasing power, biko

Purchasing power in Naija is total nonsense when compared to that of US of A

We believe you but he didn't make any sense. According to new minimum wage, 70k per month, N1500 is like a day wage in Nigerian civil service. Unskilled Labour could earn as much as N5,000 per day in Nigeria. Whereas, both N1500 and N5,000 are not up to an hour wage in USA. So, what sense did he make to you?

Would I call this insincerity or shear wickedness or dumbness?

Why not compare the purchasing power of the two currencies and minimum wages in the two countries.

Tell us how much dollars that can get you lunch in America.
Let's assume that 20 dollars can get fetch you lunch in America, can 20 naira also get you food in Nigeria?

Why not make your comparison on the basis that one dollar should be equal to one naira?

We should stop deceiving ourselves in this country. It is not everything that we bring in politics.

What are you waiting for?
Hop on the next available flight to enjoy $1 lunch.

This guy was comparing $10 to $1, how does that make sense since
Nigeria spends Naira and not Dollar.
He should have compared $10 to #10.
Mad men in seats of power. He should also have compared the minimum wage in both economies. How many $1 means will you get in #30,000 and will that amount be enough to feed a regular family in a month? Very insensitive men.

This is not true. If you go to grocery stores like HEB, Kroger, Stop and Shop , Walmart etc you can still get 3 pieces of big plantains for a dollar.
Buy them, go home boil or roast and eat with whatever sauce you have.
If you don’t have sauce, buy tin fish with tomato sauce ( just like geisha) , it’s sold for a dollar also. Just warm it up in a little oil add salt and pepper.
Total of every thing is about $2 dollars.

If you don’t have time for that , buy big loaf of slice bread ( this you can’t finish 4 times) from the store. It’s about a dollar also. Eat with sardine , which is about a dollar too.

Also a pack of spaghetti like $1.5. each. If you buy the 6 pack size from BJs or Costco, it about a dollar each pack ( you can’t finish it like 3-4 servings) .stew Sauce from African store is about $5. It will be enough for the 4 servings.

Another example, if you buy egg which is about $5 for a dozen. And buy noodles which is about $5 for a dozen.
2 eggs will be 80 cents and Noodles will be another 80cent. Total is $1.6
That is a big meal you have.
