The truth of the matter is that they overpriced themselves out of the market. Their prices compared to MSQ and Justrite, etc are too much And people are now very price sensitive |

They mocked and called them 2 x 2 shops, now they can’t even afford to shop in the high end stores anymore. Talk about returning to one’s vomit . |

I pity the staff because their jobs are at stake if they continue to record low sales turnover, that is for the few that are left who survived the frequent and regular downsizing. |

Catapault:Don't worry... Let's keep up the pretense. Even the daftest amongst us knows Shoprite is never scanty on Saturdays and Sundays. The markets you speak of are not booming as before. The purchasing power of most Nigerians is at a shockingly historical low all over the nation. Keep making light of a serious situation... Keep bringing tribe into it. It's only a matter of time...! ![]() |

Tophamer:Stop this LAME defence. ![]() From 2015-2022, the ShopRite in Warri was always Filled to the Brim. Currently, If you go on Sundays, you can count the number of people there. ![]() The blame is on this USELESS APC/tinibu Govt, which have Impoverish Nigerians. ![]() |

lonecatt:Sometimes people attribute to the economy, the economic circumstances of their circle of friends and and acquaintances. Nobody is finding things easy anywhere in the world but at the same time, some people are doing exceptionally well right now. |

SalamRushdie:Leave these imbeciles...! They know they can't keep up this charade of ass-licking. Hunger has already turned a lot of them dumb. Nothing short of a miracle will salvage the nation at this point...! Even Reno Omokri and Daniel Bwala are running out of ideas on social media... They have so little to work with. The propaganda machine is getting worn out from overuse. |

Tophamer:The price difference has always been there even during Jonathan's administration. Purchasing power of over 90% of Nigerians has declined beyond shocking levels... The future of businesses in Nigeria is not looking good. No smart investor will pour money into these markets right now. The problem with many of you is choosing to live in denial within your privileged castles rather than actually going into the midst of citizens to see the true state of affairs. You would have known that Justrite, Everyday, Ebeano, and other key competitors of Shoprite are declining in profits too. I have several people doing business in retail and wholesale across sectors like food and pharmaceuticals... They are crying daily. |

Catapault:shoprite is always busy almost everywhere it is a collection of everyday needs. Except he was filming possibly on Sunday or at odd moment for sake of content. But that aside purchasing power has declined drastically |

Catapault:I was at Shoprite in Jabi Lake Mall some time ago and it was the same story. There was even no electricity and whatever backup power was being used could not power the A/Cs or freezers. It was a very depressing experience compared to when I used to visit Massy Supermarkets in Barbados that is always brimming with activity. Even in the early BuBu years and GEJ's period, it was never like this. |

| Re: Nigerian Economy: Man Expresses Shock Over The Deserted State Of Shoprite (fotos by Angelfrost(m): 8:49pm On Apr 06, 2025 |
VinnyBaba:Normally, there is barely standing or walking space in Shoprite on Sundays, especially from 3 pm. I have visited several of their outlets across the nation in recent times, and the numbers have fallen so low... Their patronage is in the dust. I have friends among their regional managers, so I have the numbers. The retail sector of this nation is dying... Businesses are being laid to rest. I don't understand why certain people choose to sugarcoat this. |

Stayingalive:On Sunday?!! Sundays have always been the busiest days for most Shoprite outlets across the nation. |
