The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has withdrawn the invitation extended to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi.


Egbetokun has, however, directed the Kano State Command of the force to obtain Sanusi’s statement in the state regarding the incident.

The police boss issued the directive through the Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.


According to Adejobi, the withdrawal was due to the intervention of certain stakeholders in the country.

He also stated that the decision was in line with the police’s commitment to ensuring that policing actions are not politicised or misinterpreted.

This is laughable.

The Emir's silence and statesmanship is top-notch. If not, a state of emergency would have been declared in Kano long ago.

The FG must urgently grant full autonomy to our traditional institutions just like the Local Government. Sacred stools should be revered and not desecrated as being witnessed in Kano state.

State Governors and Presidents should be stripped off the right to install or dethrone a king.

Emir Sanusi remains the true King and he shall reign forever..

the igp that signed the petition has supposed to be retired by the law of of the police itself, so which law re you talking about?

Sanusi as emir,has faced more embarrassment than going to the police headquarters to be interrogated.
