.Ewedu is always mx with soup or stew .

Nowadays, most ewedu they are selling are not organic. Buy the organic ones prepare it properly with dried shawa , Iru ( locust beans) , ground and whole crayfish , with a little Egusi . .....I bet you , you will love it.
But sadly, those organic ewedu leaves are not always available in Lagos .

I think my over rated food is breakfast in bed, whatever it is, having it on bed does not make it more enjoyable than on dining

No other state cooks okpa better than Enugu, Nsukka mainly. Any Okpa outside Enugu is not it.

go to Nsukka, Enugu State or go to ESUT and ask of mama dan okpa hub in ESUT main camp, make sure you have a bottle of Pepsi beside you, your impression will change.

My neighbours here in Ikole Ekiti state (the couple) are from Enugu state the wife is from enugu ezike and I have tasted her okpa thrice I don't still get the hype it's overated abeg it can never near moin-moin in taste, aroma,or texture .

@topic, people have their different palates! The fact that a particular food is not known in your locality doesn't mean those who eat it in their locality don't enjoy it.

Just like the example the OP( a non Yoruba) cited, you as an Igboman cannot determine whether amala and ewedu is enjoyable! Only the typical Yoruba person can tell us about the food, not someone from igboland or any other tribe outside Yoruba.

Likewise, only someone from Enugu can tell the 'sweetness' of okpa, not this person I quoted that's from Abia state

Real okpa is wrapped with banana leaves. The ingredients are complete in the east where it is made perfectly

I can mention a few. You see Okpa from the South east, Amala and Ewedu from the South west, Tuwo from the North all are over hyped. Only South South food na go well

It's not all Yorubas that loves Amala and ewedu I am from Ekiti state yet I don't fancy the ewedu too I can still manage Amala with ogbono,okra soup or with gbegiri instead!!

Why must one travel to Enugu before one can have a good Okpa? It shows Okpa has no level. One clown up there said it has to be prepared by an Enugu woman before it will taste good. That's a lie. The fact that it tastes bland elsewhere shows that it will also taste bland even in Enugu. Okpa is poor man's food sold in traffic.

I have tried it once. That stuff is really tasteless. It was prepared by a popular Okpa seller in lawanson Surulere. The woman na typical Igbo woman .
But most of them keep saying , if prepare by an Igbo person it will taste better. I just laugh.
Forgetting that anybody from anywhere in the world can prepare food , as long as the recipe is available . And it is prepare properly according to the recipe.
