They will buy from a country and instead be using their own money to be funding wars at the behest of Isreal. It is now time to pay for stuff they bought and they don’t have money to pay back and start shouting tariff tarriff. It’s not a new tactics. China learnt from how US collapsed Japan economy (whose 80% of trade was with the US) and diversified. I don’t think US accounts for more than about 20% of their trade which means that they are significant enough to be missed but not critical enough to lead to their collapse and where is the alternative market for the US. The US has met their Waterloo and their Armageddon in China. spiSeyi: |

Don27tiky:Which guys don't understand? Even the US vest economists are against these tarrifs, majority of the US population including myself is against these tarrifs because there's a history of this never working. This same tactics were tried and it lead to the great depression of 1930. Go and read history. Also, while the US might have lower tarrifs against some countries, it also has an advantage over others. The US is always against protectionist economic agenda. The biggest ideology of the republican has always been open to economic competition not a protectionist agenda. |

hosemujica:The truth is: the West never expected or wished China develop itself to compete with them. The thing is, no one has the monopoly to advanced development. Why and how come the population narrative towards the Chinese doesn't or hasn't applied to Africa? Why did the West prop up China rather than nearby African nations? You think we would ever challenge the West if we got so much economic favours as the Chinese did? Well, ntoor. China isn't Africa. The West should deal with the new kid on the bloc. BTW, the embrace of China was a way to get at Russia. The hope was that as the Chinese got wealthier and dependent on Western markets, it would become a "liberal democracy". Where Liberal Democracy = ease of dividing and conquering the country. |

Not 100% accurate. Here is the accurate version :Back in the late 80s and early 90s, there were real concerns globally that China’s massive population could become a major issue if its economy didn’t take off fast enough. So instead of isolating China, the West with President Clinton playing a big role, decided to open the door. They pushed to bring China into the global economic system, and eventually China joined the WTO in 2001. Part of the deal was recognizing China as a developing country, which gave it some extra flexibility under WTO rules. From there, China became the factory of the world. They were making everything from pins and needles to towels and electronics. Western countries let them focus on the stuff they didn’t want to manufacture anymore, and China took full advantage. China used its WTO membership and massive labor force to power through two decades of export-led growth. That’s how it rose to become the second-largest economy in the world. By the time Trump came into office in 2016, a lot of people were questioning how the world’s #2 economy was still getting perks meant for developing countries? However, Trump didn’t cancel China’s WTO membership, but he definitely challenged the system by hitting China with tariffs and pushing back on their trade practices. So yeah, China rode that “developing country” status hard for years, even after its economy had clearly outgrown the label. There was no 25% WTO tariff benefit, Trump didn’t cancel the WTO deal, and WTO membership rules are more complex than implied. Being a WTO member doesn’t grant you the ability to ship at a 25% tariff, it typically lowers tariffs among member states under the Most Favored Nation (MFN) rule. hosemujica: |

OkpaNsukkaisBae:China is idiotic. 70 percent of her goods are bought by the US. What if the US move to India or other rivals? You think say na $100 nigeria dey buy from them dey move their economy? The US consumes 34% of goods manufactured worldwide, the rest 8 billion share the rest |

ednut1:Better wake up. The idea of "west" is dead, Trump killed it. Nobody will join Trump to fight China when they know he could pounce on them next or even worse withdraw from the conflict without warning and let them face Chinese revenge alone. If there is any war, it will be strictly US vs China. While everybody else look on as spectators. |

Even large firms like Nike, Tesla, and several automakers and manufacturers depend on China. Wrong move to hit China with tariffs at this early stage of his power |

Singhabele:13% of Chinese goods ends up in the US. It is much but it is not 100% China's largest trade partner is Europe with 28% share. Is it Europe or africa that will buy such goods? Europe is struggling sane with africa. Indeed us still hold d stakesThey will just stop producing excess. Reality is quite different from what you guys imagine. When countries are at war(actual or trade), everybody knows both sides must lose. The question is who blinks first. More Americans becoming homeless who also have the right to vote or the poor Chinese becoming poorer who can't even protest? I can tell you for a fact, that it is much worse being a once rich person than just a poor person becoming poorer. |
