A guy in my apartment would leave his 2 HP AC switch on all the times, and this is a place where we have light almost 24 hours a day, the first bill that was released after he installed the AC, his bill was so huge, mind you, we use meter reader.

The guy started complaining that he can't be paying huge some for electricity, asking rheotorical questions like should NEPA bill in a years be more than house rent, I aggresively told him you can even pay a month bill equivalent to your 1 year house rent if you have heavy appliancens that consume energy so well. Ever since that day, I have never heard the sound of his AC's compressor again.

I'm in "band A" and have not seen light for over 48 hours now, no issue with our transformer and this is FCT Abj.

It's quite unfortunate and we are helpless, i saw those protesting with their banner " TIB" and it occur to me that even protest is now bastardized.

With a large number of people bye pass8ng the meter and trying to tap electricity for free.

For the guy though, he could go for alternatives like diesel generators,solar etc , he can choose which one is the cheapest for him

What does "TIB" stand for.

Modified: I've always been of the opinion that areas should determine if they want to be in a particular band or not. No DISCO has downgraded anyone from band(to my knowledge) as they see them as cash cows wether they supply power or not.

what we have in Nigeris is mostly "crazy bill" constumers are just extorted cos consumer protection do not exist.

I dont see how a residential energy consumption will be more than rent ... most appliances in this age are energy saving so whats your rationale behind crazy bills

A 3bedroom house with 3ACs on band A will use about N10k daily. That’s roughly 300k.
