Nigeria is one of the Countries seen by the USTR as involving in unfair policies facing American exporters. Others are: China, Algeria, Angola, Peru, Brazil, Japan, India, EU, Ecuador and Colombia

These people are fools. So you mean if America knows what is good for them by slamming higher tariffs on other countries, Nigeria should also not do or implement policies that will help her country locally? This America thinks they can just bully anybody to submission. Nonsense!
you need them. They don't need you. So yes they can bully you

Based on the actual experienced wickedness, greed and gross sharp practices of Nigerian farmers, I totally support the lifting of restrictions on all agricultural imports from US and other parts of the world, provided they meet health and safety regulatory standards.

Why will a full chicken be more expensive to buy in Abuja/Lagos than in Edmonton Canada? It's crazy!!!!
economies of scale
Please flood our markets with cheap foods and let Nigerians breathe.
cheap things have expensive opportunity cost(unemployment). Be categorized what you wish for

They should keep their dangerous food and agricultural products in their country. Those guys in the name of capitalism are poisoning themselves.

Stop peddling ignorance. American food products are banned in the EU for good reasons as well. Their products contain dangerous substances.

You are not only stupid but a mad teenager, anyway Mama still feeding you, that's you are talking like drunkard, if you are the one feeding just ordinary ur mouth, without family o, you will know ur country is not self sufficient in food.

Ask him wen he ate better food last, werey would be scratching his coconut head.

O BOY! I WILL ADVICE YOU TO GO AND ASK YOUR PARENTS, SITUATION OF THINGS IN NIGERIA FIRST, BEFORE YOU COME BACK TO DISCUSS ANYTHING THAT HAVE TO DO WITH INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, GO TO ROMANCE SECTION, YOU WILL SEE SO MANY TOPICS THAT SUIT YOUR AGE-MATES THERE. BYE.

You are either ignorant or lying.
Nigeria has had bans on several items from all countries for decades even before OBJ.
Some items change but we have never allowed free for all imports.

US is not self-sufficient in anything, it heavily depends on import.

And before celebrating the stupid Trump action, majority of our exports

to US are energy related and exempted from tariffs.
That is why Nigeria will do nothing and let Trump and his minions
continue to bark.
I see you cannot talking as someone who is civil and educated defend the government is your damn headache

Infact, I started liking Trump on this tariff war, LET OUR GOVT OPENS BORDER AND REDUCES TARRIF, IT WOULD BE BENEFITS TO "WE" THE MASSES..... Afterall, border closure and higher tarrif haven't done any favour for us but the rich.

NB. How did I gain since govt ban cement importation? Only the Dangote, BUA etc smiling to the banks, while we the masses sweating to buy a bag of cement at rate of 10k for now.
For your information, the naira is now afloat. If you like import a pile of shit, you're paying the exact amount in dollars. So , don't complain if the value of your currency drops

Nigeria already implemented the ban since 2016. So the USA are merely retaliating.

It cannot be an equal competition. Usain Bolt and yourself cannot start a 100m race and you expect to achieve a fair outcome. There is a reason why certain restrictions are necessary. Do you think our agricultural sector can compete with that of America? Our farmers will become jobless overnight if we allow their products in. Even Europe imposes restrictions on certain items from America due to quality concerns. Most agricultural produce from America consists of genetically modified products, which have been linked to obesity and other health issues[1](https://statcarewalkin.com/info/list-of-diseases-caused-by-gmo-foods.html). Europe has informed America that it will not permit certain produce due to unacceptable levels of banned substances[2](https://european-union.europa.eu/priorities-and-actions/actions-topic/agriculture_en)[3](https://agriculture.ec.europa.eu/farming/crop-productions-and-plant-based-products/fruit-and-vegetables_en).

Nigeria should not allow America to exert undue influence. We do not desire the tasteless products they consume over there.
Your application of the Usain Bolt narrative does not fly.

You're saying that everyone running against Usain Bolt should be given a headstart or he should be "restricted" thereby depriving Usain Bolt of his well earned victory of being the fastest.

Nigerians do not want to eat chlorinated chicken and steroid-injected beef any more than Europeans wish to do. cool

@Mr United States Trade Representative (USTR, but we do import ya unreliable automobiles.
Davido's just imported a cybertruck, which would not be deemed road-legal in most sensible climes, for instance.

P.S - sometimes I wonder why we have a road safety authority at all. undecided

China is losing out? Present the data!

Do you know the trillions that have left the US since the trade war began? China is a production country, the impact can never be as worse as that of the US.

Take Huawei for example, even after US ban, it is still the number 1 telecom provider.

BYD does not have a market in the US and currently number 1. China’s trade is vast. At a time, you can’t just do without them.

If you watch the body language of Trump he is trying to counter China while pulling Russia closer. Yes you may want to say he is abit hard on Russia but all is window dressing

He sees China as a bigger threat. China knows this and they are refusing to roll over. His innuendos from several of his speeches alluded to this.

China is not the only country that retaliated, Canada is doing same but Canada's efforts would not shake Trump because their their exports is dependent more on the US economy but China is the price

See what elon musk even said recently, that the tarrif should not extend to European Union.....what does that tell you
Is this also about China?

This is how it's supposed to be. But my problem is that Nigeria can not sustain it.
If our government can stand like this and work hard to improve our economy, almost every country will be on their knees before NIGERIA.

We have all it takes to be a powerful country.

Sincerely i am really ashamed of Trump. Though I supported his re-election, I am seriously regretting it now. Ever since he came to power, it has been from one chaos to another chaos, from one problem to another problem. Some medical experts should please check if Trump is mentally okay.

Nonsense. If Nigeria doesn't want your goods, there are many others who wants it. Export your goods where they are needed. Ever since this Trump get to power, he has been behaving like that North Korean leader. Kim Jung Un or what's that his name sef.

In other news, Mr. Terriibu Eleriibu is driving this country into the bottomless pit. After 8 years, Nigeria will be far buried in the soil and will peak among the poorest and non-ambitious countries in the world. I will quote myself 6 years from now, which I'm very sure of.
Little kid. Nigerians are exporting to the US, creating a trade imbalance. If Nigerians don't want their goods, then they should also not export to the US.
