Thanks a lot

ekitimanalways:
(1) Yes, one can apply for a fresh Nigerian passport for a baby online.

(2) Alausa Passport Office is efficient.

(3) A guarantor is not required for minors or kids but a written and signed letter of consent from both parents of the minor is highly required. Moreover, a guarantor is no longer a requirement for Nigerian passport.

(4) Give it 8 weeks or a little more for it to be ready for pickup. Provided that there are no issues regarding your passport application.
In 2025, a Nigerian international passport costs ₦50,000 for a 32-page passport and ₦100,000 for a 64-page passport, with the 64-page option offering 10-year validity.

The vetting can be done offline too. Just ask for Servicom unit when you get there, look for someone and lay your complaints to. They will get it sorted out,so that you can capture.

I suggest you go on time.

Do give us feedback, when you come back.
Have been waiting since morning of today 26th March 2025 to drop feedback on how my biometric and capturing went. A bit backstory I made my DIY application and completed everything including payment on 24/02/2025. Afterwards I booked my appointment for 05/03/2025. Well I waited up till 04/05/2025 to recieve the approval email and for my application to show vetted or approved but it didn’t came through, so I reached out to my processing office (NIS Headquarters Abuja) via phone call and the agent that picked said I have to wait for the application to be approved before I can come for capturing, I wasn’t satisfied with the response so I reached out to General immigration phone line and they said I can come physical for the vetting. Well regarding the nature of my job and my location I had to wait further till the application gets approved so I can go. I waited for more three weeks and started sending emails to them and calling their phone lines after all that happened on 19/03/2025 I was able to reach my processing office on phone and the agent apologized and asked I come physically to their office and meet with servicom unit and right after the call they responded to my email and apologized for inconveniences.

So finally today 26/03/2025, I finally made it to NIS headquarters in Abuja for my vetting, capturing and biometric. I got there as early as 8:00am. On arrival I got to the venue where various people were seated and I met an officer whom I told I was looking for servicom unit, he directed me but as I was about to leave he asked me why, I explained to him and he said I should go directly to the processing unit that they will go through it first and direct me to servicom if need be. So I joined the seating venue and got my form signed on and given number. I entered the processing venue and people were seated and being attended to. Well I wasn’t satisfied with the information by the immigration officer because I wasn’t ready to waste time waiting so I went to servicom building and the person I met there told me same thing to go to processing unit. I went back and sat and soon an officer came and started collecting our papers then took it back to them. Soon he called my name and told the officer there to direct me to servicom office and we went there (it wasn’t the first office I visited earlier, this unit was inside the processing building). I met the man incharge who took my paper and asked me if there is anyone that helped me with his application I said no and he asked the other lady seated who said yes. He then told us to wait at the waiting room. Not upto 10 mins he came back with the papers and wrote vetted on top of it and said we can go for capturing now. Then immediately I checked my portal it changed from awaiting approval to vetted. I submitted back the papers and after 5 mins they called my name and said the payment has not dropped that I should wait. After like 20 mins an officer approached me and took my form again and took it back to them to check after like 10 mins he came back and said it hasn’t dropped.

Well, people kept on coming and doing their capturing and going. I had some discussions with other people I met and around 12:07pm I had to go and meet the first servicom officer that attended to me, he took me to a man and woman at servicom and told them to check my application which the man did and said my payment has dropped but my schedule date has passed, at this point I tried to explain but the lady collected my form and said I should wait outside for sometimes. Around 12:43pm I had to go again to meet the woman and just as I was about to enter the servicom office she opened the door and gave me my form and said she has written my enrollment number that I can go ahead for my capturing, I thanked her and joined the seats again for capturing.

It got to my turn and the capturing officer asked me for some details to confirm my earlier supplied data after which I captured and did my biometric and he showed me to check the screen to make sure my details are correct I did and he gave me a piece of paper with some details on it which I can use to come back for my passport collection.

General observation at the NIS headquarters Abuja
The staff there are friendly and respects people too
They are punctual and committed to their work
Nobody asked me for money or to pay for anything
Their service is seamless too
The activities at the headquarters is organized and well structured
However more attention are paid to people that have some staff helping them do the registration process.
I did mine on my own and was able to stand up for myself in all the stages to make sure I get captured. My application has also changed to passport in production stage.

So in summary DIY process is seamless if you want to capture in NIS headquarters Abuja, it was a seamless process for me. I will as well update this thread on whenever I collect my passport.

Hello everyone,

I applied for my passport via DIY online, my payment went through and I set my appointment date to tomorrow 4th April 2025.

Due to some reasons I cannot go for biometrics tomorrow but will make it there by Monday. Will this affect my passport processing negatively in anyway?

You just need to reschedule your appointment on the passport portal and ensure that you verify the status of your application prior to your appointment date: payment status should show 'paid' and approval status should show 'vetted'.

Greetings,

Can anyone kindly explain the possible reason why the tracking portal for this attached application is no longer indicating that the passport is at the production stage after ticking up to that stage initially?

Thank you.

I tried this and its responding that reschedule is disabled for this centre.

Payment Status is showing Paid and Approval Status is showing Waiting for Approval.

You may need to give it time for approval, keep tracking. Or email NIS or proceed to the selected centre on the day you are available for biometrics enrollment (which should be within six months of applying) for physical vetting of your application and which you reprint your application form afterwards when approval status shows 'vetted'.

Don't mind him,Thank God you were able to capture, that's to show you how corrupt most of this officers are.

Any little opportunity the get,the want to turn it into a money making scheme, that's how some unsuspecting person will go ahead and pay.

Just give them 6-8 weeks from today if you didn't get a text from them, then go back and check in their office.

All the best to you.
Hello, my passport was delivered to me yesterday evening. So after waiting for 6weeks without a feedback I messaged them on their NIS response instagram account and they said that my passport was ready and was at the center that I should go for pick up, but then I told them that I paid for home delivery then I sent the proof of payment, a week later it was delivered to me, thank you all for your support and advice

Hello,

Please, I would like to know if there's a way to renew my passport without the Local Government Indigeneship Certificate as I do not have it?
Re: Applied For My Passport Online (DIY).. Updated (Passport Received) by adibo(m):
Good morning all. I am planning on getting my passport for myself and my wife. When I input my nin in the passport portal, it shows my status as single because I was single when I did my nin. I tried changing it in the nin portal but there is no option to do that.

I just want to confirm if there will be an option to change it to married in the course of applying for the passport on the portal or if I have to go and change my marital status to married first in my nin first

Benue State

Benue State, Okpokwu Local Government.
Good afternoon, the last time I checked, state of origin certificate or local government letter was not a requirement for Nigerian passport renewal. Perhaps, it's a newly introduced requirement... If you reside in Lagos State, visit Benue State liaison office for your state of origin certificate. The address is: Plot 1221 A, Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Please I need your assistance
My passport expired last year November
I didn't reapply because I want to do for my wife and children.
How do I go about this.?
Thinking of visiting Abeokuta because it's closer to where I live.
Thanks so much.

Please I need information about Abeokuta center, someone connected me to an officer who is demanding #80k and he said the passport will come out in 3weeks after capturing.
I hope the Abeokuta center is itch free if I'm to use this DIY approach.
How long would the whole process take.

Thanks and God bless

Hello! Thanks for the other day.
I finally got the local government Indigeneship certificate.

I started my DIY already. My application is yet to be approved, it says "waiting for approval" but when I track my application using the application and reference numbers, it shows "ready for enrolment" as the next step.

Please, i would like to know if I can just go for capturing or if I can do physical vetting to enable me do the capturing?. My appointment date is in 2 days.

If your application is yet to be approved by tomorrow, on the day of your capturing or enrollment go to SERVICOM office located within the premises of the Passport Office you selected for capturing or enrollment. SERVICOM should resolve your issue of 'application awaiting approval'.

Good evening, sir.
Thanks for your contribution to this thread.

Please, this is my first time of applying for a passport. I'd appreciate your help in putting me through.
I got stuck at contact information. My family reside in Rivers state, while my current address is Osun state. Can I use Rivers state as my Permanent address and Osun as Current address? My state of origin is also different from the two states mentioned.
