Breaking News: Mudashiru Obasa Moves to Impose His Son Ganiyu as Agege Chairman as LG Election Draws Closer – Lagos Reporters A fresh wave of political tension has hit Agege Local Government Area following the emergence of campaign posters announcing Abdulganiyu Obasa, son of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, as a contender for the council’s chairmanship seat. The posters, which surfaced on multiple social media platforms on Wednesday, have triggered widespread reactions as residents and political observers begin to dissect the implications of what many see as a strategic move by the Speaker to entrench his family’s political dominance in Agege. While Abdulganiyu’s campaign is yet to be officially declared, the viral posters are already generating mixed reactions. Many Lagosians, particularly within Agege, are questioning the young Obasa's political experience and track record, expressing concern over what they describe as an emerging political dynasty. Critics accuse Speaker Mudashiru Obasa of attempting to impose his son on the people, a move some believe is aimed at turning himself into a political godfather within the local government. The development has also revived public scrutiny of Obasa’s own tenure, with growing voices challenging his legislative achievements since he began representing Agege in the Lagos State House of Assembly. “The Speaker has been in office for years, yet many residents still feel neglected in terms of development and representation. Now he wants to hand over the council to his son? It’s unacceptable,” a local youth leader told Lagos Reporters on condition of anonymity. Despite the backlash, supporters of the Obasa family argue that Abdulganiyu has the right to contest and that his candidacy should be judged based on merit and vision, not his father’s position. They believe his entry into the race reflects a generational shift and a desire to build on existing political structures. As the 2025 Lagos local government elections approach, the Agege political landscape is heating up. The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) is expected to release an official timetable soon, but aspirants and political actors across the state are already moving into campaign mode. For now, all eyes remain on the Obasa family as residents await further clarification on Abdulganiyu’s official candidacy and the Speaker’s involvement in the unfolding developments. Lagos Reporters will continue to provide timely updates on the Agege local government chairmanship race and the broader dynamics leading up to the Lagos LG elections.

Obasa is smart. He is utilizing the stupidity, foolishness and population of dumb Lagosians, who have outnumbered the smart and brilliant ones. You get to find out that same population are the ones that celebrates the furniture in Round house, Alausa when he builds kennels and calls it a school. You will always find them clapping. These set of nuisances who have outnumbered the learned elites, cannot interpret data and statistics, and would celebrate anything in the name of party lines. Obasa should install all his children as LGA chairmen. I would do same. You cannot have such amount of fools around you without utilizing their foolishness. |
