My believe is that whatever comfort and luxury $101B can provide, $1B can provide it as well.

Any additions ( in terms of living a luxury life style) would either be madness or nonsense.

It’s a no brainer. Rich people put most of their money in family charity foundations to avoid paying hefty taxes on them. It’s like a financial security like no other.

Wealthy people(not salary earners) wealth are mostly in stocks and properties
and such cannot be put into charity.
Very little of Gate's money is actually in cash.
Even if there was cash sitting somewhere, there is no tax on holding cash
that has already been taxed at least in the US so no point in putting them in charity
to avoid tax.

Billionaires have been passing down their wealth through generations with this effective method throughout modern history. His children will still be very much in charge of his wealth when he dies, but only indirectly.

That is not how it works.
Only if the kids are already part of the charity, if not, the control goes to the
foundation trust.

Whether we like it or not, once you know there is backup somewhere, your brain will die, your hustle will stop, your potential will be impacted because in your mind, you know you can afford to do anyhow.
