UI: Twin brothers bag first class with same CGPA, emerge best in department, faculty."

Twin brothers from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Ibadan (UI), have made history by graduating with identical first-class degrees, each with a CGPA of 3.94 out of 4.00.

The exceptional feat earned the brothers, Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew, the title of Overall Best Graduating Students for the 2023/2024 academic session in both their department and the Faculty of Technology.

The Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI) formally celebrated the brothers in a congratulatory message that highlighted their academic excellence and leadership contributions.

Matthias served as Honourable Speaker of the UI Students’ Representative Council (UISU-SRC, 11th Assembly), while Matthew was the President of SEEEES-UI for the 2023/2024 session.

The brothers maintained an outstanding academic record throughout their studies, showing consistent performance from their 100 to 500 levels. Despite slight fluctuations, they both graduated with the same CGPA.

[i]Their academic progression reflects this consistency: 100 level, Matthias and Matthew recorded CGPAs of 3.84 and 3.89 respectively; at 200 level, 3.92 and 3.94; at 300 level, 3.95 and 3.93; at 400 level, 3.94 and 3.93 again; and in their final year, both concluded with a CGPA of 3.94.[/i]

What does the future holds for this two chaps in Nigeria where the jobs meant for them have been politicized by our politician whose relatives have no such background as the omoluabi twins?
It’s not about getting the first class and the best graduating student but getting into the right place is what matters. Except , they have connections otherwise

Which way Nigeria ?

They just have to find ways to manoeuvre their way and achieve success. Nigeria and its complicated corrupt systems, have ways of frustrating brilliant minds. I have seen it happened to the best of us. However, it is important to know that Nigeria and the world owes you nothing for graduating with first class. It is your responsibility to swim through the difficult tides and waves of life and come out.

Graduating with first class is different from being smart and intelligent. They need to know how to navigate through the competitive graduate labour markets, hustle for prestigious scholarships, eye for innovative thinking, networking and explore alternative career path in case of "incasity".
