If BEDC is not mentioned where sanctions are being dished out, then the process was not fair. BEDC is the worst DISCO in the whole of Nigeria.

Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company should have topped the list. They're billing flat of four rooms the same amount with a compound of twenty rooms, and their bills keep increasing every month. We didn't have light for over two weeks but they brought us a bill of 7k, higher than the previous month where we had more light. This country is something else.

Most Nigerians don’t know they can complain.

Kelklein:
I'm sure they are not worried about this fine..

They would still recover it from ordinary Nigerians in one month through same estimated billings and fines for bypass.

We have entered one-chance with these people.

Why is APL not included in the sanction. Somebody is paying #90,000 to #145,000 a month in a three bedroom flat at ABA. HOW CAN?

I even go read the section they quoted and e no make sense. How can they measure fairness in naira?

Section 34(1)(d) of the Electricity Act 2023 ("EA 2023"wink mandates the Commission to "ensure that prices charged by licensees are fair to consumers and are sufficient to allow the licensees to finance their activities and to allow for reasonable earnings for efficient operations".

Section 34(1)(d) of the Electricity Act 2023 states that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) shall have the power to promote the development of the Nigerian electric power sector. This includes fostering the growth and advancement of the sector as a whole, encouraging investment, and ensuring its effective and efficient operation. The Act also empowers NERC to address issues like overbilling and ensure compliance with energy caps.

How do they detect and sanction over billing with fairness here?

Why are de fine,na?
Is TCN,NERC, etc ,doing their own Part,or just sitting in one Corner and using Mouth to blame DISCOS and GENCO- for Improvement and Performance?
Let them Show Nigeria their Roles, not Blame Game they are doing!

BEDC

The situation where consumers served by BEDC electricity distribution company, we're having and experienced a significant delay in receiving prepaid electricity meters we applied for. They appear to be manipulating the system by preferring estimated billing, even though it results in unreliable electricity service, because it allows them to receive more payment than the electricity they provided. Essentially, they are benefiting from a system failure. This highlights a problem with both the BEDC's meter rollout and billing practices, and the consumers unethical actions.

Could you believe that BEDC has only one team installing meters for all of Ekiti State, and that this team is primarily focused on Ado LGA., strongly suggests a servers capacity problem. It's highly improbable and raises serious questions about the company ability to provide timely service to the entire state. This explains the significant delay in meter installations, the preference for estimated billing ( even with its flaws), and the potential for widespread consumer abuse.
The concentration of resources in Ado LGA., while the remaining 15LGAs., suffer demonstrates a profound lack of equitable service distribution.
This raises concerns about potential favoritism or mismanagement within BEDC.
I dont realy know much about your state but in Rivers state I found ut that the people responsible for Prepaid are diffrent from PHCN people. If you go fru PHCN, its a long wait, however if you go fru those guys is less than two weeks.

The company supply those meters are sub- contractor to BEDC and the meters supplied directly to BEDC, so consumers don't have access to them
