As Ramadan nears its end, we’re reminded of a beautiful act of worship that wraps up our fasting journey with compassion and gratitude — Zakat al-Fitr.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made it obligatory upon every Muslim — young or old, male or female — to give a measure of food (not money) as charity before Eid.

Why was it legislated?
1️⃣ To purify our fasts from shortcomings and idle talk
2️⃣ To allow the poor to share in the joy of Eid
3️⃣ To express gratitude for reaching Ramadan and worshipping during it

The amount is 1 Sāʿ (approximately 2.25 – 3kg of staple food like rice). The best time to give is before the Eid prayer, but it can be given a day or two before Eid.

⛔️ Giving it after the Eid prayer? It becomes a regular charity — not Zakat al-Fitr.

It should be good quality, visible in the community, and given to the poor and needy.

Even a baby born just before sunset on the eve of Eid qualifies for Zakat al-Fitr. A soul lost after sunset still counts. The wisdom of Islam in every detail.

💡 Let’s not treat this like a formality. Give it with sincerity, give it with excellence, and let your charity speak of your love for the Sunnah.

🤲 O Allah, accept from us our fasting and deeds, conclude Ramadan for us with Your pleasure, and make us among those freed from the Fire. Aameen.

This year Ramadan has been concluded though.

I have a question, did the holy prophet made mentioned (not money).

I monetized it with equivalent to the grains with a motive that some people might not have other ingredients to prepare the meal for themselves.
