Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has stirred national outrage — and now ridicule — after publicly accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of plotting her assassination, only to backpedal days later after Akpabio sued her for defamation, claiming her statement was merely an expression of fear. The drama began when Natasha, in an unguarded moment on April 1 during her home coming event in Kogi State, made an outrageous and dangerous allegation: that Akpabio had conspired with former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello to kill her and stage the hit as though it came from her own constituents. With zero evidence and no regard for the gravity of such a claim, she hurled this political bombshell in front of the cameras. But when Akpabio responded with a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police — backed with legal firepower and copied to the Attorney General of the Federation — Natasha suddenly turned from fierce accuser to frightened victim. Her camp now says the assassination claim wasn’t an accusation at all, but just her way of expressing "fear." Seriously? In a country grappling with political tensions and insecurity, a serving senator falsely accusing the Senate President and a former governor of attempted murder is not only reckless — it is outright criminal. You don’t throw around allegations of assassination as if they’re campaign slogans. This is not a Nollywood script — it’s national security. “The statement is a heinous lie... a deliberate attempt to damage my reputation, endanger my life, and incite political unrest,” Akpabio wrote in his petition, slamming the outburst as nothing but a “calculated act of blackmail and character assassination.” Now, caught in a legal and moral trap of her own making, Natasha is flailing. Through her lawyer, Victor Giwa, she claimed she was simply “crying out” and that her comments were not intended to be taken as factual. In other words, she said it — but didn’t mean it. This isn't just cowardly — it's dangerous. If her words were true, she should be standing firm, showing evidence, and letting the justice system do its work. Instead, she's now retreating into a hollow narrative of fear, hoping Nigerians forget the severity of her original lie. Worse still, she’s weaponizing her own suspension and the withdrawal of her security detail as further "proof" of persecution, ignoring the fact that suspended lawmakers don’t retain full privileges. Playing the victim card after flinging such serious accusations only worsens her credibility. Let’s be clear: Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has embarrassed the Senate, trivialized the threat of political violence, and attempted to smear two public figures for her own political capital. This wasn’t a cry for help — it was a calculated attempt to play the public and twist the narrative. Now the facts are catching up with her. And if there's still justice in Nigeria’s democracy, there should be consequences. Loud ones. |

How on earth do you announce to the world that the Senate President wants to assassinate you, and then claim a couple of weeks later that you didn't mean it. Also, is it that the husband can't act as a calming influence on his wife, and advice her to be selective in picking her fights? Even boyfriend and girlfriend advice each other, let alone this married couple. Mr Uduaghan's role or lack of it is baffling. |

Is this woman okay upstairs?.. You don't just go about throwing accusations to slander people's reputation. A normal person with conscience ought to know this. |
