Coming back home permanently is a personal decision especially if you have made it overseas, the nurse whose rent is $3000 is month, got it made, to pay rent or mortgage of that amount means your income is around $200k annually and for the Dr, that too is personal, sold his house and came back with the difference, difference could be $500k to a $1m depending on where your house is and how much you still own the mortgage company, plus 401k which could be around a mill $.
My advice to them is, make sure you have gone to social security office to fill for your retirement, it’s your money, you can’t do it from NAIJA.

Experience is the teacher!

Those are few of the brave ones who have the guts and nerve to return. Many still cannot accept that reality and will rather die there.

I do read that statement saying “Comeback back home of abroad isn’t good” it mostly comes from people who have not seen the other side.

Just pray you never get to a point where returning will be close to impossible.

You will know why 20 years abroad is not a flex. You think thru don’t want to come home? It’s because there is nothing to show for those years. They believe their status is secret being abroad than relocating back where everyone will know.

Like I said, experience will teach you.
coming back home to do what... Some already sold all properties including their house

Just look at the comments. This is why Nigerians will rather be homeless abroad than come home to their family. I have been in the U.S for 10 years. I have my papers but I can tell you that I have developed mental health issues from living here. I am very lonely. I can't see my family often. Life is short. Everything is not about making money. A lot of Nigerians that have never been abroad may never know how it feels. That people immigrate to other countries. You think it is easy? Starting afresh. Hopefully it works out. What if it doesn't work out? Of course Nigeria is not easy as well which is why people are leaving in the first place but sometimes people just have to choose what is important to them which is family, friends, community and peace of mind. To each is own. Stop criticizing people for their choices.

Some few must always come back home. It's a natural phenomenon. It happens all over the world. It's not peculiar to Nigeria.

Is not about weak bro, if you know what only the word Loneliness means, you Will understand that loneliness can play a major part in mental health..it can lead to mental disorder..talk more of discrimination...lots more..you make money and realized all go yo monthly bills..then you come to think of the reason for holding on .
My uncle came back after 8yrs, he mentioned that there's no place like Nigeria. They are working like ants there, bills alone will make you wan run mad, you will be doing 3-4 jobs just to meet up with bill, even borrow
yet you cannot meet up, the landlord increase there rents as the prices of things skyrocket. Nothing like my neighbor abeg help me with Maggie or a cup of rice. You are your own.

Do they have to interview everyone?
It's called sampling, you don't need to interview everyone to get a feel for what's going on.

Some people here in the US, especially those who have been here for a long time, including myself, are either moving back to Nigeria or planning to. Most are just looking for ways to make a living in Nigeria before returning home.
I am moving back to Nigeria after A decade and half abroad. I just realize It is not worth it for me anymore.
I got everything I wanted abroad and this is the best time to be close to family and let the kids experience Nigeria.
We have our roots and I can never allow myself as a tool to build onyibo man country.
I will only visit and never live abroad again.

I have a question.

Why don't they want to die there(in the USA or UK)?
Is an honest question pls. Thank you.
chrisifeanyi:
Don't use this misleading report for anything. I know two persons that relocated to the UK long before now, they have worked and bought properties everywhere in Nigeria and have their own residence in a choice place in one state with constant solar and Nepa light and their children already UK citizen. Now they have retired back to naija to enjoy their wealth . They have cooks, security and errand boys and so much money from their investments in Nigeria. If you have the means, leave Nigeria and make money then come back if you want.

Not Only has work taken me to Israel ,the company I work for has a lot of Biz with Israel in tech, also I live in N8, dominated by jews.
Now you say you live i n Israel you and ur wife send N8m plus, thats four k plus pounds.
Last time I checked, you was looking for people to sell fruits and was based in South Africa allegedly. huh huh huh huh
And see as e don curse me, say him be 56yrs old man. See the lies? N8m a month na him mistake. If he say N2m, I for no kana. But people with executive jobs with their responsibility abroad will find it hard to send that much home. They put up these outrageous stories hoping people will DM them on Nairaland and then they scam, traffic or use them for organs. God will punish that guy and e no go ever see road for telling that lie and Insulting me on top. Israel that is known to be hostile to foreigners especially Africans.
