nairalanda1:Will they b sent for training? A retired Nigerian general from one of the eastern States has 2 sons, one joined the military through their secondary school, the other want to genuinely be a soldier but was born abroad. The one born abroad travelled to the country he was born and joined their military. The other studied a course that is not needed in Nigerian Army and left. The grudge of these gentlemen is they don't want to pass through what their father passed through in the hands of Nigerian army. They were born and brought up in the system but hated the system due to high level of marginalisation. The time that man became a general, Nigerian army had no choice but to promote him and that was towards retirement. Not up to 6 months,he was retired. Why join something that treats you like trash. As years go by, more and more people from the east lost interest in these cos they don't give them equal opportunities like they give others and their kit and kin in the system are being treated unfairly. |

On a sad note, I personally 7 guys that are all gone on the account of this Boko Haram sh*t... 4 Calabar guys and 3 idoma boys. Na mumu dey join Nigerian Army, especially the rank and file. |

darkwan:But it does. The US has all races and ethnicities yet they don't employ by quotas. When we begin to give positions only on merit, you will see how Nigeria would shine. You claim that each tribe is proud so let them use that pride in educating their kids and raising them to be the best instead depending on quotas. Someone with true pride and dignity wants to be judged on merit and not given employment out of pity or because of where he comes from |

darkwan:Northerners has always surpassed in numbers in the Nigerian armed forces, since 1960. Your statement shows you are very naive in runnings in the army. A Fulani conel sitting inside AC in Abuja can can select and send 500 privates from the south to maiduguri with minimal ammunition to confront Boko Haram and at the same time inform Boko Haram that 500 troops are coming into the fray. Go to 44 army hospital in kaduna or even 7th div hospital, and tell me how many hausa or fulani soldiers you will see there. |

ijustdey:Let them share it the way they share CBN and NNPC recruitment. No one whines about Igbo quota being unutilized in those corporations, but when it comes to being enlisted on the boko haram killing field, they want Igbo to fill their casualty quota in NA |

IvarTheBoneless:This is your insecurity displaying in HD as the best of military Nigerian wver had were of igbo extract. What you should worry about is why there are so many deserters today in tge Nigerian army ? Why should any right thinking person join the army ranks when so many of them are deserting or resigning or been killed senselessly because the arm is compromised? What about the allowance , check the army ranks will you want your loved ones to be treated the way the Nigerian army ranks are being treated . You think the solution to thus is to throw tanctrum? Use your head even your yoruba brothers and sisters in the ranks are resigning because poor treatments of the troops and you are here displaying your insecurity. |

DMerciful:A lot of Korean troops were cannon fodder during world war 2. Many died in banzai charges alongside their japanese colleagues. And they were discriminated against in the same IJA. Even today, any Korean Japanese is discriminated against. It's basically racisim, only both sides are Asian. And again, its not like most Koreans loved Japan. But when your enemy is offering you free training that might be of use later on... Even if they are sent North...nice way to learn COIN. Also, most of our troops are based in 'fortresses'. Very difficult for Boko to take down easily. (it's an old trick). Plus, a lot of the troops that usually get sent are from the middle belt and North anyway. Tale as old as time. FInally, not everyone gets sent to the North, and not being sent to Borno does not mean one won't die in fighting with armed robbers..... |

Zocalite:“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle. Sun Tzu...the Art of War... Remember Arminius. War has not changed. The basic rules are the same. |
