Avoid any house that the landlord or landlady happens to live in the premises or two house away(no gree oh, no let any agents sweet talk you into agreeing), it won't be a funny experience if you encounter the worse sets of landlord or lady. Goodluck! |

Check for water and prepaid meter.. usually a place without water will cost lesser than one with water, but try to get the one with water (very important). Also make your findings to be sure the area or house isn't marked for demolition. Finally, when you get that place to call yours, pray when packing your things in. #cheers as you transition to a new phase of life |

For House Hunting 1. Choose a location/neighborhood. (depending on your purse) 2. Search through local agents 3. Visit properties in person 4. Check water, sinks, toilets, and showers (very important) 5. Look for signs of pests (cockroaches, rats, bedbugs etc) or leaks on the roof. |

Maclink288:Haaaa....so you can see if you and fish go dey swim inside your apartment. Or you would need to be collecting rain water from leaking roofs Or you would need to swim out of your area anytime it rains Or your puppy will get carried in the area cutter during the rain The list is endless ![]() |

Maclink288:Lol , sorry o, e go better. House hunting in any of these major cities is not for the weak, Abuja, Lagos & PH. My own journey ended about 2 months ago and I love my new place to pieces. I will encourage you to talk to God about this and everything else in your life. God says to be anxious for nothing and to pray about everything, but we often take that for granted, and we try to work things out on our own and in our worldy wisdom but godly wisdom trumps ours, any time, any day. Apart from prayers know that there are miracles in your mouth. With the power of life in your tongue and mouth, you can decree and call forth the good things you desire not bad ones. I learnt this powerful truth from Kenneth Hagin, Kevin Zadai & Terri Savelle Foy. The bible tells us about it but when you have real life examples of people telling you how this worked for them you are gingered to try it. Prior to my house hunt and during the search, this were my words and decree, I have and I live in a brand new, lovely apartment, that is a warm, cozy and safe haven, for me, my family and friends. My accommodation is tastefully and beautifully furnished, it comes with a well fitted kitchen, it is located in a safe and secure environment.........and more. Guess what? I got everything my heart desired and my tongue called into being. My apartment is newly built and I'm the first one living there just as I wanted, the kitchen is well fitted, my landlord put in a gas cooker and piped the gas line with a hose all I needed was my gas cylinder. My apartment is in a safe/secure environment, power and water is good. I am so pumped about this shelter that I catch myself smiling and thanking God for every little thing about it. I didn't get here in one week or just by praying, decreeing and declaring what I wanted. There was still work to be done on my part and I did it, but I'm convinced the Lord 1000% came through for me and this won't be the first time when it comes to my shelter. In the past I asked him for a good and godly landlord, I said please give me a godly landlord a person who is influenced by you. He came through and gave me a really good landlord. Don't try to run this thing on your own ask Him for help and give sincere thanks when He comes through and even before He does, give thanks for other things that give you joy or light up your heart on a day to day basis. Do your due diligence too while searching to avoid being scammed and other stories that hurt. I'm sending you good wishes. |

Avoid Houses where the Landlord lives in the compound...E get why. But Living alone as a young man in a well fenced compound without Neighbors is just the best l swear, just like this my current new found apartment. But it's extremely rare to find. Girls in the area will start begging you for a visit from the very first week ![]() |

Congrats bro! Renting your first apartment can be very tricky, especially with how many fake agents and hidden charges are out there now. Here are a few tips from my experience: ✅ Always verify the agent or landlord before paying, ✅ Go for verified listings (or use platforms that vet landlords before showing you houses). ✅ Try to make payments through a secure channel that can protect both sides. I actually built a platform called MyAgent Africa (https://myagent.africa) that helps with exactly this, verified rentals, safe escrow payments, and direct chat between tenants and landlords. You can check it out if you want to rent safely without stress. Wish you the best on your first apartment hunt! 👍 |
