Opposition Merger A Futile Alliance, Says APC Chairman, Ganduje by RealGandalf(op): 9:49pm On Apr 12, 2025
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed ongoing talks of a potential opposition merger ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the initiative as a fruitless political experiment bound to collapse.

Ganduje made the remarks on Friday while speaking with journalists in Kaduna after leading members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) on a Sallah homage to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his private residence.

Reacting to speculations about an emerging coalition among opposition heavyweights—particularly former Vice President Atiku Abubakar—the APC chairman waved off any suggestion that such a movement posed a threat to the ruling party.

“We are not worried at all. This is just history repeating itself. They have done it before, and it didn’t work. What we’re seeing now are just incompatible fragments trying to unite. It’s a political game, and though we won’t disclose our strategies, we’re more than ready for the task ahead,” Ganduje said.

The APC leader reaffirmed the party’s firm grip on national politics, highlighting its control of 21 states and referring to the APC as “still the strongest party in West Africa.”

According to Ganduje, the ruling party is not content with maintaining the status quo but is actively working to expand its influence across more states.

“We are targeting more states—either by convincing their leaders to join us or by defeating them at the polls. We are confident, but not complacent. The work continues,” he added.

His comments came just days after a high-profile visit to former President Buhari by opposition leader Atiku Abubakar, who was accompanied by prominent figures including former governors Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Gabriel Suswam (Benue), Jibrilla Bindow (Adamawa), and Achike Udenwa (Imo).

While the visit sparked fresh speculation about a grand opposition alliance, Atiku clarified that the meeting was purely a post-Sallah courtesy call.

“There is a plan for the major political parties to come together and form a strong opposition, but it is not part of our visit,” Atiku told reporters after the meeting.
As Nigeria’s political landscape begins to warm up ahead of 2027, analysts say all eyes will be on how both the ruling party and the opposition recalibrate their strategies in the coming months.

If Peter Obi can work with Atiku Abubakar, they will bury APC. Since 1999, Tinubu has won the least electoral votes than any of his predecessors. It shows how unpopular he is. He even lost his backyard.

At this point, I'm tire. However, Tinubu should be allowed to complete his 8 years. After Jonathan, the next person to be deprived of a 2 terms of office shouldn't be another Southerner, especially when a Buhari was gifted 8 unproductive years. What's good for North, should also be good for the South.
As for El Rufai, he's mad! Did any Southern Politician revolt and leave APC, to lead a gang-up against Buhari?

Tinubu will be re-elected, the worst is El Rufai and Co will only resort to using Bokoharam to cause violence and that will be unfortunate, because Tinubu or his immediate family won't be killed by Bokoharam or fulani herdsmen. It's the innocents that will be their victims.
Re: Opposition Merger A Futile Alliance, Says APC Chairman, Ganduje by Smartcitizen: 5:58am On Apr 13, 2025
Still you are running up and down begging Buhari to stop his people to join the merger?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I think what APC people is trying so much to do is to demoralize Nigerians into believing that nobody can defeat Tinubu who was given a bloody nose in LAGOS and Osun before the Northerners came to rescue him during the last election.

No propaganda machine can deter Nigerians in removing Tinubu.

Well done for being a primitive tribal champion who loves his suffering, as long as his fellow southerner is president.

Why are you forgetting that ebilokan deprived Jonathan of two terms in office by packaging his own 2011 expired soldier into APC change messiah four years later, just because he was eyeing the 2023 election to continue the shege at extra level?

Moreover, by 2027, southerners would have been president for 17 out of the 28 years of democracy since 1999.

Emergingnation:
Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

Why not go back to Independence and tell us the years of rulership between the North and South or didn't the North take advantage through military? Didn't they use it to enrich themselves. Gowon ruled for 9 years, Babangida 8 years, Buhari in military time, Abcha, Abdusalam etc. North and South rulership must be equated. The North had ruled for most years since Independence with nothing to show for it. The North has kept rhe South down all these years. Its time to break free.

Dont drag us onto your stupidity. As for me and my likes, I would gladly vote for Abbubaka Shakau instead of voting for Tinubu. Buhari was nepotistic, appoint majorly across all northern zones but Tinubu is only appointing his Yoruba people. It is more of a Yoruba president than a Southern president. Let only the Yorubas make him president.

No be only Atiku, na Shekau and El Rufai as his Vice. Any criminal ftom the North can succeed Tinubu in 2031, but there's no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027. It's a Yoruba Man presidency we are talking about ooo, not an Ijaw or Itshekiri man, that can be pushed aside with marauding Fulani threats, the press and Lagos are our strengths we will continue to deploy them.
Tinubu will do 8 years, except he dies. You too can also bookmark my comment.

Stop mentioning South. It is purely Yoruba's fight. I will also counsel you that if you own a company and hire a misfit of a manager, please retain him until he completes his term.
