I wont save bribe, maybe you are not just a fan of "tips" and "incentives" way of encouraging workers to do better
i am an engineer. an electrical engineer by training. i have worked on multiple projects and i have witnessed the greed and laziness of your average nepa official first hand. nepa will tell you to pay for transformer for your site. and after will also tell you that by law the transformer is the property of nepa and they can do what they want with it. [this is actually the case]. nepa will tell you to bring money for spare parts, etc - which is in their parts store.

the moment you are paying for a service, it is the responsibility of nepa workers to ensure up time. i was in a maintenance role for field facilities for 5 years and everyone had a direct line to our ceo. slack too much on repairs and my boss would catch it and it would cascade down to me.

but they are unionized, they are legcy nepa staff so here we are.

Your neighbours case is uncommon thats like one in a 1000 and if he has a lawyer he will win ekedc cos Nepa official installed it, due amount was paid but i will leave that to folake
i had the exact same issue with some extra flavor six or so years before. so it is likely more common than you think. in fact i was disconnected for six months. they kept ignoring my emails because they wanted to shake me down. then one fine day i put their ceo and consumer protection council in copy of the mail and they started running around like headless chickens

Messing up how ??, at the time the fee was public knowledge, i think 30+ for single phase or so
They didnt mess up, cos my papa house naa burn cos of bad wires or installation
as an electrical engineer, i can see the poor quality and dangerous work most of these guys do. things we would not accept in our own site or facility] and how they try to monetize everything. we have a site in ayobo. upgrade. it only has two phases coming in. we assumed the wire must have cut when entering site . we called the nepa guys. after wasting our time for two weeks, they came and confirmed that the problem was actually from them - their overhead line was delivering two instead of three phases to the area. they then wanted us to pay for it. ekedc workers wanted us to pay to repair an overhead line under their control.

that is the average disco worker for you in a nutshell

This can't be true that a whole deputy governor is finding it hard to get metered ?
My uncle who is a serving senator is currently facing the same challenge in his home state.

Prepaid meters have been rolling out since around 2018, what have you been doing since then that you couldn't apply for one?
Even you too?
Omor.......

Anyways since you didn't bother to read, here's what he said happened:

I actually procured a meter. I bought a meter to say, ’Look, don’t give estimated billin’g. I bought the meter, but to convert it is wahala,” he lamented.

What I even find more digusted is the fact that all these years they have been commissioning IPPs, they never for once though it to move such facility on it and yet, they claim the know governance.

Whatever you saying about Nepa is relatable infact everyone know these things
I am not making a defense for Nepa, nethier am i promoting bribery But my stand is "When you are rome Master rome,
If you can't beat them who says you cant Manipulate them smiley money go drop but not that kind of bribery money

i am glad at the bolded, thats me ... Nigeria are very lazy nd ignorant about some official channels, some people fit think say i be big man cos i use channels very few Nigerians know about ... maybe exposure sha

They probably assumed you guyz are gullible and desperate .. thats the push until you start making some "unpopular moves" before they run back to do the right thing .. i showed my bank shege up top peanut i get .. one even asked how do you know these channels smiley ifa nii

How you deal with them determines the side of them you see.
