The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) have resolved to collaborate in tackling illicit drug trafficking through the Lagos ports, particularly Tin Can Island.

The agreement was reached during a working visit by ANLCA Chairman, Prince Olawale Cole, and members of his team to the Commander of NDLEA Tin Can Port Command, Mitchell Ofoyeju.

Cole reaffirmed ANLCA’s commitment to supporting anti-narcotics initiatives, pledging to mobilise resources and sensitise its members to be active participants in the fight against drug smuggling.

Welcoming the delegation, Ofoyeju expressed confidence in the partnership, describing it as a proactive step toward enhancing regulatory compliance and drug enforcement. “Together, we can create a safer environment for legitimate trade and ensure that Tin Can Island Port remains a drug-free territory,” he said.

He also urged agents to adopt the Know Your Customer (KYC) principle and maintain professionalism to avoid being used by drug cartels. “You have a noble profession, but you must be wary of the occupational hazards. Knowing your customers will help you avoid the traps of drug barons,” he cautioned.

Both parties discussed strategies to enhance surveillance, improve enforcement, and raise awareness among customs agents about identifying drug trafficking activities. They agreed to maintain regular communication and conduct joint operations going forward

Commander Ofoyeju also decorated Cole as a War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Partner and presented him with the NDLEA Tin Can News Bulletin to mark the occasion.

So sad that they are the largest population in clearing and forwarding also. Some gang of jobless fellow from the East will carry Ghana must go and enter night bus down to Lagos....from there, land in Tincan Port and Apapa and become a nuisance and a terrorist, terrifying the peace of the Ports by stealing parts from tokunbo cars and sending to his brothers in Ladipo and Aspamda. Atimes, even burst imported containers. All these idiots are the so called agents clearing drugs laden containers for Okezie, Chiamaka, Emeka, Chikodi, Chinedu and Okafor dem dem etc ... ..Federal government, Ports Authority and NDLEA should intensify a strict inspection of containers henceforth and also repair those scanners abeg before they turn the whole country into Junkies......Ndi ara Developers my foot......
