Our medical team, the doctors of Nigeria, are terrible. You can not believe that my mum, who was diagnosed with cancer, who is undergoing chemotherapy and reacting to it, is at the point of death,” he said.

“We stay on the Island. We rushed her to a hospital in Orchid Road, they now said, no, we have to take her back to LUTH, where she took her first chemotherapy shot. Now, we have to take her there. If not, she might not make it.

“If you see my mum, she is a skeleton of herself. She might not make it. They gave us a note.

“Do you know when we took my mum to LUTH the hospital refused to let her in? They now pointed us to a test centre beside LUTH, where we should go and do it. We now took the result back to the hospital. They refused to let my mum in.

They locked us outside the gate. They locked my mum and my younger sister, and somebody else I sent to escort them.

“She cannot even stand. I literally backed my mum. I was the one who took her to the Orchid Road hospital. She’s almost lifeless. But these guys are so unsympathetic.

“They say it’s only a doctor that can permit them to open the gate. Imagine leaving a critical patient outside the hospital.

“After the result came out after three hours the doctor said, ‘no, she has to stay outside’. I said, okay, can you go and see my mum to know, so that you will see, maybe you will have pity. This guy literally walked out.”

“And sometimes, when we make content about how nonchalant doctors are, how unsympathetic some doctors, you guys will think we are lying,” he added.

“If somebody is ill in this country, the person can just die. You are seeing a lifeless woman. That cannot stand.

“These hospitals, they need to be checked.”

But until he tells us the type of cancer his mother has, the current staging of his mother's cancer, and whether they have told her about her prognosis, reserve your judgement

Cause if his mother has stage 4 cancer, nothing can be done

What is the staging of his mother's cancer, are they giving her curative or palliative chemo, what is the type of his mother's cancer.

Because I suspect that his mother is late stage. If that is the case nothing the hospital can do except send her home to join her ancestors.

It is harsh but it is what it is. Late stage cancer means it is the end of the road. If you like admit for 50 days, e go still.end the same way. Death. Plus additional debt to hospital for nothing that you will be struggling to pay.

So I called my friends at LUTH and they told me that your mother was admitted. Your mother was attended to when she came and her vital signs were stable, so they told her to do some test so it would be reviewed before taking an action because not everyone gets admitted, some people are stable enough to go to the clinic. Your mom was never rejected and this action of yours is malicious and for content purposes. Luth has limited spaces serving 20m+ people in Lagos and your video didn't show any refusal of care. Now your mom is being treated at LUTH, this is how you thank the few doctors and nurses there for attending to your mom. Your mom is one of many patients and some patients didn't get admitted because there was no bedspace and no hospital will admit a patient when there's no bed space. You got a bedspace and this is how you how your appreciation. You could have decided to go to another facility but you choose LUTH because you trust she'd be taken care of and now she's on admission, what is your excuse now? You don't make contents about everything

It's a challenge to you, become a medics and see if they have acted unethically?

You better take her to a private hospital or a better government hospital. LUTH is a death trap, they've been killing patients since time immemorial. From wrong diagnosis to administering wrong drugs or treatment, sometimes patients will spend up to a week in the ward without any doctor coming to checkup on the patients.

The level of negligence by health workers and the government in the health sector is very appalling.

I would have sworn that Zic's mother won't be in Nigeria, battling cancer ...and at LUTH for that matter.

I had to tell a man some years ago that he had cancer. Our tests and scan had shown it. Terminal cancer. He did not have long to live. He happily accepted the news and thanked me. After he left it took me five minutes to regain my composure for the next patient.


Until he gives us more details about his mother's condition, stop being abusive to health workers.

Plus when you vote in governments including this one that don't fund health well and leave us handicapped in diagnosis....
