The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has given suspended Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State condition for peace.

Wike said he is open to forgiveness if Fubara apologizes over the political crisis in the state.

Wike and Fubara had been at loggerheads shortly after the latter became governor in 2023.

The crisis between the duo affected the state House of Assembly, a situation that led to factionalization of the legislature in the state.

As the political crisis started degenerating into insecurity challenges, President Bola Tinubu had declared a state of emergency.

Tinubu also suspended Fubara for six months while appointing a sole administrator.

However, addressing a media parley in Abuja, Wike said: “Has anybody approached anybody? I don’t like people who are hypocrites. I have told her to mention an elder in Rivers running around the governor who has taken steps to achieve peace?

“At the end of the day, if we don’t achieve anything, we will still go back to square one, which does not make sense.

“The day Mr President intervened, the assembly people immediately withdrew the impeachment notice. I’m open to forgiveness if he comes sincerely.”

Seriously I don’t know why our system allow third parties that claim to be god fathers to interfere in our governance yet we say we are exercising democracy.

It would be a dangerous precedent for democracy in Nigeria. Tinubu will have no reason. Look technically they are begging him to come back and apologize so he can be returned, but SIM is more like I don't care you lots can have it.

But the problem is the dangerous effect it would cause, Tinubu does not want it and SIM is not ready to beg. Big wahala

This is Nigeria, trust me Tinubu has set a dangerous precedent where any President can wake up and suspend any Governor with any reason.

You think the suspension of Governors will start and end with Tinubu lol, The presidents after Tinubu just got the message.

When you wanted the position, I have a feeling you weren't showing your true sef, so he brought out your true sef , which is good,a Lion can not handover to a sheep,at least he will handover to a fox. So tell him you are a Lion in sheep clothing, and negotiate properly not timidly.. say what you want and what you don't want.. worst that can happen is that you agree to disagree till you reach a meeting point.
