Lagos, Nigeria – A disturbing case of alleged serial sexual abuse unfolded at the Ikeja Sexual Offences Court on Thursday, where police investigators revealed how a father reportedly drugged and raped his 15-year-old stepdaughter for years, resulting in multiple pregnancies.

Police Inspector Aderinto Foluke testified before Justice Abiola Soladoye that Adewunmi Ajayi, the accused, had been sexually violating the minor since 2019. The survivor’s teacher first reported the case to Adeniji Adele Police Station after the girl confided in her, fearing her mother—also a defendant—would force another abortion.

According to the prosecution, led by Abibat Ogunwemimo, the survivor disclosed that her stepfather had impregnated her twice, with her mother facilitating abortions. At the time of reporting, she was allegedly pregnant for a third time.
