Guys i found these guys on TikTok. They claim their batteries are grade A and their prices are very good.

I only feel concerns for 2 sets of people here

1. Those who solely depend on someone for recommendations without the knowledge of how things work.

2. Those who copy paste another person's work without basic principles.

To save yourself future heartaches, do personal research and at least own few spanners, screwdrivers, and multimeter.

Know few terms. Google and AI are there at a click.

Below is a good example on why welded busbars is a terrible idea. It’s just a companies way of saying don’t touch anything inside our packs.

EvS are a terrible reason to defend welded busbars, ev companies don’t want you opening their packs and they also want the pack very secured in case of an accident! Heck, even their CAN communication are not standard and are very proprietary!

In this modern day where the world is going in the ‘right to repair’ direction, companies are still making this kind of product decisions. This is no different that iphone 13 and above requiring replacement parts approved by apple themselves for it to work well, you can’t swap a faulty iPhone part with another one sourced from the same iPhone without an error in the software. Same goes for display, and face id sensors.

Even Eve recommends dual threaded terminals.

I agree entirely. Out of warranty repairs will be more difficult with welded busbars.

Not a fan of welded battery terminal. Great as it provides amazing electrical contact but bad for DIY and tinkering. I love tinkering

Should a cell go bad on welded joints, that's the end of the run.

The only place I may value welded joints over screw/bolt/nut terminals is in my eBike battery build. As long as I'm not jumping over potholes and rough terrain in my home energy use, not a fan of welded joints on that end.

I live for that right to tinker and repair

He is either lying or he doesn't have enough info about the battery pack. I once posted the spec sheet here, the recommended charge current for Haisic is less than 0.15c. That should tell you all you need to know

My brother, thanks for referencing this my teardown, I have never had any issues what so ever with any Lithium Battery in my installations probably because I have a thing with sticking to quality.
But of course most people would prefer the cheaper by dozen options.

Thing is most of our DIY Batteries are coupled in non certified conditions and environments. I doubt some of us even polish our busbars before coupling which will eventually lead to atmospheric corrosion in a no distant time. How many factors can we even highlight?

Having troubleshoot several packs I now can for fact Welded Busbars.. PCBs are way to go..

The Hithium Packs with Welded Busbars has better Cell Deviation after top balancing, compared to the EVE packs.

And capacity is not a way to know quality cells Lmao...
And when they say Matched batched cells are dey referring to the colors of the cells ?

Most people are suffering from lossed terminal and getting them resolved low key.

Mind you SMS is not a Deye official Distributor they are simply walk-in clients of Deye, you can verify from Deye who they have given franchise in Nigeria.

Pardon me, I can see felicity in your teardown also. So is it Felicity that polishes busbars before coupling? Felicity whose earlier packs were known for harvested and over stated capacity cells. Felicity whose bms in earlier packs were notorious when it came to reliability.

Some DIY batteries are better than some of this so called professional coupling.

Just look at pylontech, industry name yes, but the are notorious for having failing bms, complaints about bloated cells, packs not charging to full etc

Eg4 batteries have numerous complaints too, i have also seen similar complaints with deye LV batteries etc

The fact that you are lucky that your installs don’t have problems doesn’t mean its same experience for everyone. A simple deep research will show numerous complaints on forums by users if this so called ‘better than diy battery’.

I’m telling you a fact which you can also verify by simply researching forums on the internet.

DIY is simply do it yourself, the more skilled the builder and more access to quality tools the builder has equals a better build. Full stop.

This back and forth has been invaluable.

Not really. The price difference is because the one @Gloryjoyeux has (SUN-6K-OG01LP1-EU-AM2), apart from being a newer model, it has a max. charging/discharging current of 135A.

While the other you bought (SUN-6k-SG03LP1-EU) has a max. charging/discharging current of 190A. Though, the serial/model number with SG03 is not on the list I got but, (SUN-6k-SG04LP1-EU-SM2) priced at #1.5m.

I think to an extent, this should be responsible for the price difference. Probably, additional components in the second variant. The specs sheet should give more insight because on the document from SMS, the max. charging/discharging current is the main difference but, that's just a summary for sales I believe as not every difference can be listed.

Let me break it down further,

Regular reseller authorization is an authorization that allows you to walk in and buy the range of products you can are categorized under and resell such product in your region and there is no legal binding that you can ship back items you could not sell due to damages, over stocking or end of life scenarios, etc. Products you buy will be tested and certified before shipping, thus the reason why you have to pay for hardware components replacements. and the list goes on.

While a Distributor Authorization has and extensive process after which when you are authorized, you have access to a lot of things, eg.:
You must have an Exclusively Deye Branded Outlet.
This outlet is going to be a point of presence for Deye, after sales service center for Deye in your region.
Deye will ship and stock all categories of their products (according to your region) and retrieve or redirect them to other regions at will when demands falls short in such regions.
You will not distribute or resell competitors products in the same outlet or using the same Business Name.
You will not rebrand or modify any of their products that you are supposed to be distributing.
Deye will deploy departmental heads of staff to your outlet to run the Outlet for a stipulated number of years to achieve training and technology transfer.

For those who cares to know.

1. Casing mold: It is far cheaper to mold the casing of SUN-6K-OG01LP1-EU-AM2 which is part fiber plastics than that of SUN-6K-SG03LP1-EU which is full metal casing.
2. Max PV Input Power is 9600W for SUN-6K-OG01LP1-EU-AM2 and 7800W for SUN-6K-SG03LP1-EU (MPPT components upgrade)
3. Max PV Input Short-Circuit Current is 27A+27A for SUN-6K-OG01LP1-EU-AM2 and 17A+17A for SUN-6K-SG03LP1-EU (MPPT components upgrade).

If it could discharge 190A that would have made it an 8kw inverter.

The only thing it has going for it is an extra ‘apparent power’ of just 600w. Even the mppt input power is weaker 7800w on the SG vs 9600w on the newer one.

Okay. I was referring to the price feedback from SMS.

That was the only difference in the literature and if you notice, I said they could have put that for sales purposes and the specs sheet would give better details.

Since they are all sleeping, I’ll answer your question.
This is definitely a panel for a 24 volt system, and so you need to series it with another of the same panel in order to get a 48volt from the connection. Your inverter voltage must always match your system voltage.
