Enough talk about China-US trade tangles, maybe not enough talk but a shift away from that to China- Nigeria/Africa's more significant emerging opportunities. China is not only turning to Nigeria or Africa in trade market, she is also set to deliver $51billion investment, aid, and loans over the next two years beginning as recently as 2024. Particularly that African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCTA) opens up the possibility of cross-border value chains developing in Africa. Most of the goods that China imports from Africa are natural resources , in return, Chinese companies export a wide range of goods to Africa, including manufacturing products, Agricultural, industrial machinery , vehicles, etc. A 2019 statistics, for example, shows Chinese contractors accounted for about 60% of the total value of construction work in Africa, this is bonkers! - in a good way, I mean. So, here's the deal, a desperate Xi Jinping looking to diversify his country's market and dependency on the US market, seeing Nigeria being the biggest market for its products in Africa, will strike a deal on Nigeria's own terms. I expect the minister of trade and investment push a near perfect deal on the table of Mr President. This is where we're back to the China-Nigeria currency swap. Renewal of Naira/Yuan deal from $2billion to as low as $10billion as kick off. As well as more emphasis on capital goods coming in to stimulate local industrialization. That should be the sweet juice we should squeeze out of the deal. A desperate Xi Jinping would not hesitate accelerating its approval in 1week while FG puts on a big smile. |

Let china come and open manufacturing here and build supply chain in africa, not just flooding Nigeria with cheap products. Otherwise Nigeria should also slap tariff on china products, we have oue own local content to buy from. |

Hyperchi:Smh. USA is not even among the top 3 of our best trading partners. You are using obsolete information. China has over the years been reducing its trade with US in preparation for a moment like this. USA itself has over the years shifted from being a manufacturing power house to becoming a service oriented economy so much that it's leading manufacturing companies have shifted their factories to China, Vietnam and Cambodia. Most Americans buy mostly made in China products! D1official:Smh. If it's by US dollars then ask yourself why on earth did Tesla, Apple etc moved to those countries. Ignorance is not bliss o. Here's what Late President Reagan predicted when he resisted what Trump is currently doing https://youtube.com/shorts/tXb5P2hsVHI?si=LTZAq-EAs6Mq_sGp In your estimation, Reagan, a Republican President, too is hyping China. Lol Dustbin Ya... The only Difference why I jus like getting my product from US even if is made in China is that they always come with extra quality buh if you buy same product directly from China the quality is of less and cheap while the US will be a bit costly..... |

Get them to build factories here , so our people can get jobs , you cant just come and be selling and be taking advantage of our massive population , even the government should do more than just collecting taxes, get them to create job here, it will reduce crime rate and all that. |

This is risky fa. We already import more goods from China than from any other country in the world. We import about 9 to 10 times the value of what we export to China. Our trade relationship is lopsided. Which is the exact situation that has exacerbated the recent US-China trade war in the first place, trade deficit—US importing more than it exports to China. With the US market freezing for China and the increased attention Nigeria will continue to receive from China, our own trade deficit with them is likely to grow exponentially now. Their goal would be to close the $500B gap the American market has created, and to do so they'll try to max out their trade with all other partners. Maybe they'll aim to double the $20B they've with us in the next few years, we being a country of 200M people. More industries and businesses that previously had the US as their main market will turn look for alternatives. Our local industries in the same market are unlikely to be able to compete favorably with their Chinese counterparts due to higher manufacturing costs here. What will happen is that the markets will become even more saturated with Chinese products, outpacing local competition and eventually pushing them out. With that, we return to the age of importing everything from China — including toothpicks and pencils (if we’re not still there already). Factories shut down, people lose jobs, unemployment spikes, followed by all the economic implications that come with it. Will our government protect us like the US is trying to protect local production? Unlikely. China will offer more loans, which creates more resources for our theifing leadership to steal, so nobody will complain. |

China tried to close the last British steel factory after China acquired it, but the British government had to step in quickly to take it over as closing the last British steel making in Britain will be that they will now depend on China for steel. British Steel workers block Chinese executives from Scunthorpe plant Dramatic standoff came hours before Business Secretary accused Jingye of planning ‘irrevocable’ closure of last ‘virgin steelworks’ in UK |

COMRADES are speechless, Nigeria and other emerging economy cannot close the gap that US has created, because the US imports goods worth of more than 500 billion dollars from China in a year, how much is the trade volume between China and Nigeria and other remaining emerging markets? China should try to make peace with the US for her to continue enjoying massive patronage of trade from the US |
