Growing up as a child and attending Sunday school, the idea of Jesus I got from Sunday school teachings was of a lowly and poor man who left his glory in heaven to come and die for my sins.
But it seems pentecostal teachings are now at variance with this especially with some preachers saying Jesus hates poverty and poverty is a sin.

So fellow Christians in the house, please I need your thoughts on this.

Based on your bible knowledge, was Jesus poor?

Y'all bother urself about unimportant things and end up missing the real significance of Jesus

See Muslims......their focus is to pray five times, defend Mohammed with their life even if he slept with 9 year old, and spread their Islam by killing their neighbors

But Y'all will be looking for :
weda Jesus collect or pay tithe,
Weda Jesus wear top or trousers or cap
Weda Jesus drank juice, beer, spirit

Thee one that Jesus clearly said u should do, y'all don't do it

YES!
Jesus was poor and he taught his closest confidants to give away whatever they had to remain focused if they want to be with him in heaven:

“Stop storing up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal. Rather, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

These set of humans are no longer going to inherit the earth as God His promised righteous servants of old {Psalms 37:29} rather they will be transformed into angels having no gender {Luke 20:34-36} that's why they must be born again {John 3:3-5} all their earthly possessions they must forgo to support others in doing the work Jesus assigned to them all! Luke 18:22

So Jesus himself set the pace by having no possession of his own on planet earth:

“Foxes have dens and birds of heaven have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay down his head.” Matthew 8:20

His Apostles (supposed corulers with him in his Kingdom) followed the same pattern:

“Look! We have left all things and followed you; what, then, will there be for us?” Matthew 19:27

So if any religionist is accumulating assets on planet earth surely he is not part of those going to rule with Christ in heaven because such a person has nothing stored up for him or her there! Matthew 6:19-21

May you have peace!

To enter the Kingdom of GOD you must be poor. This means no selfish accumulation of riches.
And ofcourse, you could be rich and still make yourself poor like JESUS in order to enter the Kingdom. Just use the riches more for the benefit of others rather than accumulating it for yourself alone. Avoid luxuries and unnecessary things... basically things that don't benefit others. And you should give only the necessary things

I completely agree with you on the need to do what Jesus commanded

But how do you follow Him who you do not know?

The examples you gave of Muslims is apt. They kill for Muhammad because they have the right knowledge that he killed all those who oppose him.

Jesus on the other hand forbade killing your enemies. I have seen on many grounds when Muslims in a bid to justify killing of one's enemies quote the words of Jesus which he used in a parable of the unprofitable servant.

Thus, it is easy for anyone who lacks the right knowledge about the personality of Jesus to be misguided into thinking Jesus indeed endorsed killing one's enemies like Muhammad

That's why the right knowledge about Jesus Christ is important in my humble view

Again ...my point is focusing on what's important and has significance...christians keep dragging each other in public platforms arguing about irrelevant things, further sowing discord...u hardly see Muslims do these things despite all the controversies and bad eggs in their religion...

The Muslims do not have anyone among them who would dare paint Muhammad in such light. He would easily pay with his head. Just last year, a man was lynched in Sokoto for allegedly blaspheming Muhammad. No one even knows what he said till today. That's just one out of many examples.

While the so-called pastor claimed that Jesus hates poverty, thousands of Christians were seated and no one stood up to correct him. In fact, some Christians have been defending him on social media.

That shows you that some Christians read the lips of their pastors instead of the bible and some so-called pastors are bold to make deceitful comments about christ because of the confidence that there's no consequence for it.

I mentioned it a comment ago....maybe u missed it....the 4 gospel is packed with information enough to know Jesus...

So anyone suffering misinformation is just being lazy
