If presidency can rely on solar for electricity supply, it's a sign that we should all go and do likewise.

If a whole presidency can't afford to pay for electricity bill, then how can the common man pay for it. And you don't think anything is wrong with the system. And you are still seeing a smart way from a dumb government.

The funny thing is that there are people here complaining about government going solar and not giving us light.

Look NIgerians, since 2013, when the power sector was privatised, except for transmission (which is dependent on the discos for revenue anyway, so it might as well be private) the only way power can work is if a unit of power is sold at a profit, and if NIgerian discos are allowed to set the price of power, and if every nigerian pays for power at the price of the discos setting

The fun fact is

1. Nationwide , 40% of the country does not pay for power. Many of them bypass their meters. And when the discos come to disconnect them, they chase the disco workers with cutlass, so at the end, dem no pay. In some parts of the country, it is 58% of the nation

2. Only 20% of the country...BAND A customers...pay at the price discos set. The rest pay way below what the discos set. And government is having trobule paying subsides (and in today's news oil has fallen way below the government benchmark..so any money for subsides woiuld be very low)....so discos and by extension gencos will operate at a loss.

3. Because discos are operating at a loss, due to one and two abovwe...they cannot buy transformer, wires, poles, etc easily...because THERE ISNT ANY MONEY.

SHort version: discos cannot make a profit because government policies and people refusing to pay market price, means they operate at a loss.

I just state a simple fact .....if a company operates at a loss, then you cannot expect premium service from them. Simple and short.

10 billion on solar is another matter all together, how many solar panels will power such a system and where will they install them. Even 5000 solar panels at 150k per unit is 750m. We all know there is no way 5000 panels can be installed, so how come 10b, abi na battery cost that much? They should give is the breakdown jare.

It is only meant strictly for the villa, and will most likely be designed to give the villa light for 50 years uninterrupted with such a budget.
