For all the dreamers! We’ve officially broken the record!” he posted joyfully on X (formerly Twitter). But what followed struck deeper.

Every move, every hour, a love letter to children who’ve never known the luxury of a second chance.”

Let that sink in. This wasn’t just chess. It was a mission, a movement, a marathon of hope.

I hate to be the one to do this, but basically the game went on for 62hrs, there were stops for water breaks, food and bathroom breaks as well. Impressive record but these records are only surface level, in actuality, they really don't mean anything when you look at the bigger picture. Congrats to him anyway
Indeed. I'm struggling with what the fuss is all about!

Chess is considered as idle and wayward people activities only here in Nigeria.
Chess have always been considered as the gentleman's game in developed countries since the 40s and 50s. World chess championship is an elite board game that countries invest resources just to win it. USSR especially took Chess very very seriously, they have an entire school for it and give out national awards for their chess champions. The reason Putin didn't terminate the life of Gary Kasparov is because he's a national treasure ( he was a world chess champion for several years, the first person to beat a chess AI *deepblue* and the highest rated player until Magnus Carlsen ), go and read about Chess championships to enlighten yourself how much respect this game game on the international stage.

It's just an exhibition game na for Guinness record. It's not the World championship and not a single point is getting added to their rating either.

He's doing it for charity and that's a very good thing.

Besides Tunde is not actually the best Nigerian chess player, he's just the most popular and the image of the Nigeria chess community.

Go and beat the world's top 5 and claim top position.

Then I'll hail u.

No be by longest time.
Let him beat the number 1 in Nigeria first.
But Tunde is not claiming to be the best, he's only creating awareness to the community through his exhibition games.

Mind you chess is a path that everyone good create and there is no consistent champion
There are consistent champions! Alekhine was a consistent champion, Capablanca was s consistent champion, Tal was quite consistent, Marshall too, Karpov and Kasparov were really consistent, in fact Kasparov won so much that people thought there would never ever be another like him, he was the highest rated player and a national treasure. Then Magnus came along and completely demolished every single record imaginable.

Honourable mentions:

Petrosian
Botvinnik
Anand
Sparssky
Larsker

in Nigeria. In the international stage however, it's considered as an elite board game. USSR no dey joke with it. In fact it's because of Kasparov being a national treasure that stayed Putin's hand from offing my guy grin
