Some Landlords Are Evil. by ibechris(op):
Last year, I relocated to this two-bedroom apartment, paying 1,950,000 naira, which was part of a 2.4 million naira package.

However, I recently received a notice from the property manager informing me that the rent has been increased to 2,500,000 naira, as directed by the landlord.

In just 14months in a house...

Just imagine how they suffocate people in this country.

Since you can afford to pay 2M per year to rent, I will advise you to look for a property to buy. There are properties where you can put down payment and spread the rest over some years. I am guessing you are living in a major city like Lagos or Abuja or Portharcourt etc.

If not, move out of his house and find another place to rent. You are not a poor renter and they just want to take advantage of that.

Is there no room for negotiation?
The cost of getting another suitable apartment will either be same with the present or more.

I don't think I need to negotiate.

It has spurred me to get mine as fast as possible.

Correct. You are on the right path. God will continue to help you.

Many people like to take unfair advantage of others.

Don't pay that increase in rent. If you do, they will continue increasing it every year or every 2 years.
