Parapet aren't part of load bearing structural members.

It means it doesn't carry any impose load apart from self load.

So you can continue your roof work the following day but leave the formwork in place to prevent any damage to the parapet itself.

Parapet has nothing to do with load bearing structural members, so why should it need time to gain strength through curing?

Mind you setting time of cement starts immediately after water is added and normal solidified time is between 6-8hrs.

As long as your parapet is cast and stay without falling under its own weight. You can start your roof work.

Let me even shock you, you can even do your roof work FIRST before parapet.

You should be concerned about using an 'engineer' who can suggest such.

For your own safety, get a third party to check the rest of the building.

Some issues don't show up until years down the line.

Well I’m not here for any show. I only did my findings because engineer was saying I can start the roofing the next day after casting. Which wasn’t comfortable with me.

That’s why I came here to ask. Well gotten my answers.

Not advisable at all. Give some days, like a week for proper setting and curing of the concrete . Otherwise you risk cracks in the concrete fascia ( proper name). A parapet means something different

I did Mine after 1 year
Though its was a Bad experience.
The money I wanted to use in roofing after 7 days of parafet was stolen from My account.
I waited for 1 year before seeing snother Money.
Thank God for the Wood oridudu I used.

It's called "Roof Beam" and this Beam is supported by the wall beneath.

You can continue block work on a slab cast yesterday as long as you leave the props in place.

So why should a parapet that isn't a load bearing element be an issue?

Do you people even know that there's Aluminum Parapet in which you have to construct your roof frame first?
