Mindlog:The country is rudderless. The only thing that matters to politicians is oil money. |

westside365:The above is very true. Politicians who contribute almost no value to society are the ones getting the lion share in terms of financial and social benefits, while the main professionals working to keep the country going are living on peanuts. Nigerian teachers and lecturers earn some of the lowest salaries in the world. In fact, some cleaners in Nigeria earn more than some teachers. There is no society that can thrive with such a system. Until the above injustice is addressed, nobody should blame any professional for leaving the country. |

Alot of things are going wrong with our healthcare system presently! Even regulatory agencies have become hotbeds of corruption! E.g Pharmacy council of Nigeria (PCN) now without annual licenses of young pharmacists even after making them sit for an illegal exam after internship which they call PEP. These young pharmacists despite passing the test are still made to pay extra bribe to PCN staff before they get their first licenses! While other professions give licenses to their graduates after internship, young pharmacists are subjected to further stress and extortions and still have their licenses delayed for so long! All these things are happening under the Minister's watch and deserve to be addressed! If they know they don't want to regulate pharmacy practice anymore, let them scrap the damn PCN and face the consequences of an unregulated pharmacy practice. Prof Pate please wake up and act!!! |

jamafa:What do you mean by subsidized school fees?? How much should it have been in a 3rd world country with poor minimum wage, low average wages and low purchasing power?? Don't you know most of our parents sold their properties to be able to train their children? And does this subsidized school fees only apply to medical graduates? Why is it not being used when talking about graduates from other disciplines? Enough of this bullsh!t! |

jamafa:Engineers, lawyers etc enjoyed 'subsidized' school fees and they are free to migrate. But doctors are not allowed. Same docs who paid the highest fees in school despite the 'subsidization' |

malali:Good idea. With more ideas like that a lot more will stay. That alone won't be enough though seeing as they can build their own houses in 5 years if they leave. |

Blitzking:I had an idea about this a while backhttps://www.nairaland.com/8361740/service-paid-medical-advise. I haven't figured out the right way to push it so it's largely abandoned but in theory it would at least make one feel less used. |
