Ohanaeze Ndigbo Hail Igbanke Community For Embracing Igbo Roots by Slytiger(op):
President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Sen John Azuta-Mbata, has hailed the Akiko Uwa Social Cultural Group over the successful conclusion of the Igbanke Unity Festival held under the theme “Igbanke Nor be Bini”.

He assured the collaboration of Ndigbo with the Igbanke, a community in Edo State, in the realisation of their ancestry.

In a statement he personally signed, Azuta-Mbata praised the Igbanke community for the bold declaration of identity and commitment to celebrating their authentic Igbo heritage.

“I bring the warmest congratulations of the entirety of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide to Akiko Uwa Social Cultural Group of Igbanke on the resounding success of the Igbanke Unity Festival, aptly themed “Igbanke Nor be Bini,” he said.

“This bold declaration of identity is a testament to your unwavering commitment to asserting and celebrating your authentic Igbo heritage. By proudly affirming your Igbo ancestry, you have demonstrated resilience and pride in the face of historical misconceptions.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide commends your efforts in promoting unity, cultural preservation, and the advancement of our great Igbo nation. Your festival is a beacon of hope and inspiration to other Igbo communities.

“We assure you that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide will partner with your group in all our activities, leveraging our collective strengths to promote Igbo interests and heritage.

“We shall equally incorporate the people of Igbanke in all our activities. Igbo bu ofu (Igbos are one and united). Together, we can achieve greater heights. Once again, congratulations on this great achievement. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration.”

They actually have the Ibo ancestry. Their culture and values are more Ibo inclining than Benin. But unlucky to be inside Edo state as a result of the demarcation of the old Bendel state...

You cannot turn logic on it's head. Igbanke has been existing for hundreds of years sharing boundary with Benin but maintained the Igbo language and culture yet some people would always come up with lies that a person speaking Igbo, practising Igbo religion and having Igbo culture is not Igbo.

I am intrigued, when did the Ìgbànke Community get forced to declare themselves Benin, why exactly can't they celebrate their being Ndigbo without making references to not being Obvedo, what have I missed exactly?

Do they have an Onojie in their community, I genuinely would be grateful for someone to tell me what is going on?

Edit: Apparently the Onojie was deposed and he or someone close to him remembered they were Ndigbo at that point and rallied a few people to protest.

These Igbos are comedian. Paid Azuka Okah to organize a group called Akiko Uwa, hired actors, publicise it on the Internet and claim it's Igbanke people
DarkJeddi:
Are you now the mouthpiece of Igbanke people?
Them no fit come out debunk the charade?
0ponu
They're all over social media debunking it. Igbanke has always insisted that they're not Benin by ethnicity. They've always insisted that they're Ika. The Igbo expansionist movement led by Nna Meh TV, Spirit Almighty and the rest contracted Azuka Okah and formed the akiko Uwa group which They've used for propaganda for a few years now. There's lots of sponsorship coming from certain Igbo people and Ned Nwoko was also involved. We've infiltrated their groups and I have a lot of information into what's actually going on. Expansion and access to the sea in eventual biafran independence. They're willing to go to any length to achieve their dreams. We the indigenous Ika people are watching and we'll act proactively because we won't permit anyone to play politics with our identity

How did Igbake come there as visitors when they were merely caved into edo state like other ethnic groups including the benin people. Because the capital of edo is benin doesnt mean the state belongs to benin people alone. I never believed educated people can as ignorant as what i have been seen people say about thus igbanke issue serioysly.

Igbanke is a lost ika speaking kingdom under Agbor delta state before boundary adjustment took them to edo state. They are not igbos

You are talking absolute nonsense. Before the coming of the British, that entire area was the Benin Empire. Then it was the Midwest. Then it was Bendel. Today you are saying they were carved into Edo, forgetting that it is Delta and Edo that were carved away from each other due to divide and rule politics. Do you think you can rewrite history??

Logically, that should tell you then, that seeking to carve out some part of the land to join another part on the basis of ancestral ownership and historical ties is fraud. No one owns any land as I've just been told.

Igbo as an ethnic group is a concept created as a result of colonialism. Igbo is not a race/tribe/ethnic group but a language spoken by a people of diverse origin and culture that live in a contiguous geographic space

This is one of the reason other South south tribes don't trust igbo's.
Average Igbo Person sees himself as been wiser than other tribes.
Igala's are indigenous to Anambra and Enugu
But you will never hear Atta Igala make issues out of it.

And then the visitors multiplied while the original settlers stayed so few?

Drinking alcohol first thing in the morning will impair your reasoning.

The civil war is over. Our people need to start accepting their roots. There are Igbos in Benue, Cross River, Kogi and many states across the S/S region. They need to embrace their true identity and stop the needless identity crisis.
