You are talking absolute nonsense. Before the coming of the British, that entire area was the Benin Empire. Then it was the Midwest. Then it was Bendel. Today you are saying they were carved into Edo, forgetting that it is Delta and zero that were carved away from each other due to divide and rule politics. Do you think you can rewrite history??
Like most state around the old eastern and the mid-western region most if not all comprises of multiple ethnic groups edo state is not an exception, there are other ethnic group that was added there for many reasons, but stating that it was because those places were under the old benin empire means you dont have sense, but if you say you are smart then advice the oba of benin to raise his army and invade igbanke since its under benin empire. Because SW states are mostly yoruba makes some of you to think every state must have one ethnic group very stupid reasoning

What if the presently day igbanke was given to igbo's during slave trade or civil war.
allow the igbanke people to live their life
Benin people are invaders , they invaded little clans and tribes conquered them and imposed their kings on them, if you read the history of every clan or minority tribe that was once under Benin kingdom their history starts with they running away from the oba of Benin

I no trust this their suddenly about turn and are now Igbo , I heard they are having issues with their bini neighbors and now they resort to blackmailing them with they are suddenly igbos

Many igbos are frustrated. Their only option is to engage in interstate sabotage. Going everywhere to show discord.

And then the visitors multiplied while the original settlers stayed so few?

Drinking alcohol first thing in the morning will impair your reasoning.
Benin is not bigger than igbankes the igbankes are a clan of the ika's the ika's are a subgroup of the igbos

Nobody is chasing anyone out. But when they are ready to join whoever, they will leave without an inch of Edo soil. You already know this.

Please I am interested in this information, where can I find out more about it?

Also, you are best adviced to avoid the drunkard that told you that story, or at least speak to them when they are sober.

I am intrigued, when did the Ìgbànke Community get forced to declare themselves Benin, why exactly can't they celebrate their being Ndigbo without making references to not being Obvedo, what have I missed exactly?

Do they have an Onojie in their community, I genuinely would be grateful for someone to tell me what is going on?
You didn't read news of Oba of Benin trying to override them saying he have suspended their Eze.
This what triggered them reminding them that they are not Benins but Igbos.

Who gave the Oba Benin power over Igbo king in Edo?

Go and read your history, igbankes are ika's , ika's are a subgroup of igbos, igbos are of nri kingdom, nri was established in the 9th century while benin was established in the 14th century that's like 500 years older than benin

OK, just read a bit more about it.

It appears the Onojie misbehaved and was removed, someone close to him then decided to organise a group to say they were Ndigbo.

Good for them that some of them are now claiming Ndigbo as a result, hope we don't hear stories that touch when their second class Ndigbo citizenship is confirmed by Ndanambra and Ndimo.

Great.

Igbo as an ethnic group is a concept created as a result of colonialism. Igbo is not a race/tribe/ethnic group but a language spoken by a people of diverse origin and culture that live in a contiguous geographic space
What is diverse about eight market days?

I have no issues with Ìgbànke being Ndigbo, in fact I am happy for them. I am more concerned about you saying Benin people came from Ife and at least letting us know where the information came from.

Great.
Ndi Anambra or Imo (colonial creation) is not a tribe/clan of Igbo nationality. The Ngwas, Aros, Owere, Nankas, Orlu, Afoikpo, Wawa, Obosi, etc, are people that make up Igbo ethnicity.
