This will affect the youth both in the short and the long run. Even if WhatsApp pay the money, will the money not be wasted on frivolities and politics. |

WickedAfonja:You have a slave mentality and it is people like you that hinder the development of Nigeria. Every time you use Facebook, WhatsApp and google, they collect your data. You will be shocked what they know about you. They use this data to make money off you by selling your info to other companies. You are now saying they can collect any data they want and use it any way they want! I hope you know this is the reaso. They claim they want to ban TikTok from the US. I hope you know the EU has fined them Billions for this same sharp practice. We are unpatriotic people and that’s why we don’t make progress….learn a lesson from how ordinary Chinese responded to the imposition of tarrifs by the US. Your own is to side with outsiders because you hate the government and demarket your country to outsiders.

Govt that's a band of bandits. They are just looking for ways to generate forex. What did whatsapp do? How much do they generate in Nigeria? That's like forcing them to rob Peter just to pay Paul(Nigerians) but they are saying, Paul(Nigerians) must pay Paul and not Peter. |

casualobserver:You are not serous. In America where average 9-5 office worker can spend equivalent of N1m in disposable funds a month, their data is highly valuable to merchants, sellers and advertisers. In Nigeria, to mildly put it, people spend as high as 70% on feeding so have almost nothing left for the sort of things advertisers and onlines commercials businesses target with such data from WhatsApp and the likes. What is your data worth to any serious person? |

Dear Whatsapp, Instead of paying a fine to the Nigerian government (which is a shakedown by a group of corrupt people who will share it amongst themselves), kindly consider shutting down your services. Nigerians existed before Whatsapp and will continue to exist after you are gone. Call their bluff. DO NOT PAY!!! |
| Re: $220m Fine: Judgement Will Affect Our Services In Nigeria – Whatsapp by appleous: 4:37pm On Apr 27, 2025 |
CodeTemplarr:Exactly!!! This is why SM companies pay very little in comparison to other locations for African views. Check what YouTube pays for African views. Africans are poor. We barely have any disposable income. Advertising to Africans is a waste of time and effort because they can't buy what is advertised. Whatsapp should call the FGNs bluff and shut down their services. The Tinubu government is a corrupt extractive regime who don't know how to add value to anything |

1x2x3:My reply to another poster already acknowledges what you are trying to maliciously reply to as not part of my submission. I know data is used in ads and carries value to merchants and online businesses but what is african data worth. The joke is on you as my initial question still stands. Howmuch does WhatsApp make from Nigeria? 1x2x3: |
